Good hotel

Reviewed 14 december, 2015

We stayed here just one night, with our son, to visit the Christmas markets in Dusseldorf. Plus points: extremely easy to reach city center, free WiFi, kind service, clean room. Minus point: you better bring ear plugs against the airplanes noise, in case your sleep is light. We didn't have particular problems, but we were particularly tired at night and wouldn't have heard a bomb. All in all it has been a very good choice, and I would recommend it.

Our room was spacious and sheets and towels were clean. The carpet in the room wasn't very clean though, it had leftover crumbles from previous guests. The selection in the breakfast buffet is very minimal and when something was finished, there wasn't any backup. I would advise not to buy breakfast from the hotel, but to go downtown to a typical german bakery.

Easy access, good breakfast, friendly

Reviewed 30 november, 2014

We stayed for one night in November and were positively surprised by this accomodation. The welcome was very friendly, with detailed explanation on public transport, parking facilities etc. The room was quiet (facing the backyard) and spacious with a desk, two chairs, a closet and flat-screen TV. We had tea-making facilites and free Wi-fi. The decoration (paintings, wall paper...) were simple but done with care and an eye for details. The bathroom was spacious too and clean. The hotel was furnished with thick carpets and well isolated - we did not hear much from our neighbours. Heating worked perfectly. A supermarket, bakery and restaurant were in 5min walking distance; public transport (U78, U79) were approx 150m away. It takes 8 stops (10min) to get to the city center. Parking around the hotel is free. The breakfast was very good (nice variety!). Points to mention: 1) the matresses are very soft and both my partner and I had some back pain in the morning. 2) reception is not 24/7. 3) Hotel is fairly "intimate", i.e. 3 floors with 3 rooms each. For travellers who like traditional German kitchen try the following restaurants: Brauerei zum Schiffchen & Brauerei zum Schlüssel (slightly lower prices). Both brew their own beer and offer typical German dishes. Be aware: Service is typical German (sometimes a bit "rough") too.

Spacious Room, no A/C

Walking distance to the GDS fair, nice Greek resto nearby. Our Second time in this hotel. We booked 2 rooms,we've got the last offered rooms. I booked 1 (triple) for me & my wife and 1 (sgl/dbl) for my staff. Upon arrival they had only the triple room prepared for the 3 of us, and asked as if we could all stay in one room because they misunderstood the booking and that they don't have any other room to offer. Ofcourse we don't want to stay in 1 room. Quiet a dissapointment but no need to argue so they booked my staff in another hotel nearby which we've heard was better. Owner was trying to be nice inspite of what happened. Anyway, the triple room was very big and cozy. We liked it. But it was just very hot, no Aircon, fan was not enough. Our room was beside the street so we couldn't really open the windows widely or all the time. Temperature outside is bearable than inside the room. Wifi was good. Breakfast has very small choices. Winter garden place was quiet pleasant during breakfast. We will try another hotel next time.

Cosy property, wonderful hosts

I was attending a conference at the Congress Centre (CCD) and stayed here for a week. This hotel is conveniently close to CCD, about a kilometer away. The U-bahn stop is very close to the hotel, connecting the hotel to the city centre by a short, 10 minute ride. The hotel is more like a B&B, with about 8 rooms on 3 floors. The property seemed recently renovated with a nice classy wood-finish touch. Our room was on the 3rd floor, hence had to carry our luggage through the stairs. However, the hostess was so helpful that she carried one of the bags (the heavier one) half way through for us. The room was very clean, with all the necessary amenities. The best part of the stay was the hospitality of the hosts. They made us feel very much at home. They were very sporting and even offered a bunch of toys to keep our 5 year old daughter busy while I was off for the conference. They also gave us all the necessary suggestions, directions for places to visit etc. The wifi is free and worked fine. The breakfast was offered in a nice breakfast room in the basement. The room was very tastefully furnished. The breakfast was basic but very good. There are a few restaurants in the neighborhood where we went around for dinner. There is also a supermarket adjacent to the hotel. The Nordpark is a five minute walk from the hotel. My wife and daughter went to the park almost daily. Since the hotel is close to the airport, there was an occasional jet noise. Overall, wonderful hosts, excellent value for money, highly recommended.
