Kempe Komfort Hotel

Less than 2 mins walking distance from train station, really convenient to reach the airport. I spent one night in this budget hotel, liked everything except the bathroom. Shower leaked lots of water on the floor, and the towels were not really white. Comfortable room with balcony, breakfast at charge. I do recommend it.

This budget hotel is located 5 minutes walking distance from the train station which is quite convenient. The receptionist has been very friendly and professional. I had booked a single room with single bed. The room is clean, relatively spacious but not really cosy. The light on the ceiling is not welcoming at all, the walls would need new papers, the bed very soft. Additionally to that, it was really windy last night and you could here and feel each and every gust as the room was not really isolated and windows could not be closed. I paid only 40€ so I could not expect a 5* room. Quality/ Price ratio ok but I am not sure to book this hotel again.

The hotel lies halfway along Birkenstrasse. At the top of Birkenstrasse is the recently upgraded tramline and the main entrance to the S-Bahn station. The trams now go underground once leaving this stop thus giving a very swift connection to the Altstadt - 5 minutes direct to Heinrich-Heine Allee. Bus 737 gives a fast connection to Oststrasse and Hauptbahnhof. The S-Bahn offers a direct connection to the airport in 10 minutes or to Hauptbahnhof in a couple of minutes. At the other end of Birkenstrasse bus 834 and trams 708 and 709 go direct to Hauptbahnhof via Worringer Platz (the terminus for Flixbus and other coaches). On arriving at the hotel I received a very warm and friendly welcome. Despite paying only €35 per night for a single room, my room had a double bed and a balcony with a very powerful shower and WC. There was even a large complimentary bottle of mineral water which was very welcome after my flight. Being so close to the main railway line the downside is noise from the railtracks if the windows are open. The main shopping streets start just a couple of hundred metres away from the top of the road. Overall for value for money, and excellent transport connections this hotel cannot be beaten.

The hotel is excellent value, it’s 3 star so don’t expect luxury. The beds are super comfy, the rooms are clean. Shower is excellent and towels are decent. The train station is a 5 minute walk away with great links to city, airport etc.

I checked into the hotel on 3rd Sept and stayed for 3 night's. My first impression as I entered the hotel is the clumsy nature of the reception. The elevator is obsolete and can hardly take 3 persons with luggage. The rooms are terribly small with badly positioned Furniture. The wardrobe can barely take anything. The wash hand basin in my room has no platform to place things. There is no A/C and the fridge is stowed away at a wrong place. The Wi-Fi has good strength. The complimentary breakfast in the hotel does not have varieties of food. Not a wonderful place to stay.
