A Very Disappointing Stay

We are loyal to Hampton Inn. Whenever we're traveling, if there's one in the area that's where we stay. The emenities and friendly service have been wonderful. The Egin, IL Hampton is the one exception we've encountered. It was one unpleasant experience after another. The automatic sliding entrance door didn't open all the way, making it difficult to get our luggage in. Then we found out the pool and hot tub were out of commission, and the website hadn't mentioned it. (After we complained the website was updated.) There was no luggage stand in our room, so we had to put our suitcase on the floor. The eggs were overcooked and the breakfast was skimpy compared to other Hamptons. We decided to go elsewhere for breakfast. The only thing we were happy about was the very quiet air conditioner. I definitely recommend staying somewhere else.

This place is a dump, and sets a terrible breakfast. Highly over priced for the accommodations. The pool and hot tub were unavailable due to construction and the overall appearance was poor. Very small bathroom and uncomfortable bed. Not recommended.

I am a Hilton Honors Gold member and I have never been treated so shabbily in a Hilton Property. The swimming pool was closed and the Business Center was not available and "had not been available for two months," according to the woman who checked us in. I told them about the Hampton Inn Guarantee that was displayed on the counter. Bobbi, the assistant Manager, even argued with my husband about the pool closure, saying that we should have seen on the Hilton webpage that it was closed. She was quite rude and unfriendly. My husband pulled up the page on the webpage and showed Ms. Bobbi that it said nothing about the closure. I asked several times to speak to the manager, the alleged Angel Siscal, and was told that a message would be left for him to call me. We asked several people at the front desk to have him call us, but of course, he never did. I called today and talked to Anna and again requested to talk to Mr. Siscal. She said "he only comes in once in awhile." I asked for his phone number and she said that she "was not allowed to give out his personal information. This property should be be removed from the Hilton family. It needed repairs to the hotel as well. I did meeting planning for 30 years and used many many Hiltons, almost always with very good results. This Hampton Inn is disgraceful. DO NOT STAY THERE!

Sorry to say that I had bad experience here. I'm very loyal to Hilton (Diamond), I have stayed here several times on business. When there was a problem I had hoped to work out with the management, no one returned my call in a month. I called and left messages nearly every day, and sent email. I'll not be back, but there is a Holiday Inn express right next door.

The check in process was fast. Many of the employees at this hotel don't wear masks. Given that it is a law that they must wear masks, this is very disappointing. There are no lamps on either side of the bed. This is terrible because the other lamps in the room are not especially bright. When I woke up in the night I needed to turn on a light next to the bed to get to the bathroom. However there was no light to turn on. The bed was very uncomfortable. I didn't get a good night's rest. The room was very clean. The bathroom was very clean except there was quite a bit of rust in the tub. I thought this was unusual because it's not a metal tub. The heating worked well. The night table mounted on the left side of the bed is falling off the wall.
