Pet friendly
I was satisfied with my room. Only needed a place to sleep overnight. Room was clean & they were pet friendly. Staff was very nice. With Covid-19 precautions enforced I had to drive to next exit to get dinner.
No Longer A Motel 6
Some time between the summer of 2018 & May 2019, the place either gave up its Motel 6 franchise or was dropped by Motel 6. It's now a non-chain motel called "Discount Rooms & Suites". I drove by on my recent trip from Florida just to check what happened to it. Motel 6 no longer listed it as one of its motels on the web site. I even called Motel 6 & the agent confirmed they have no franchise in Emporia. This may work to the motel's advantage. They had a following who used the place & now the owner may be able to plow the franchise money he previously paid Motel 6 into renovations. I hope one thing they do is replace that broken glass @ the check-in window. That was broken for several years & made you feel like you were checking into a crime-ridden dive (although I never had problems there). You got what you paid for at this place -- a no-frills room @ a bargain price. I never had the bad problems others have described, and I stayed there at least 10 times over the years. I may give them a chance on my next trip. The Knights Inn in Emporia was nothing to write home about (see my review on that place).
Disgusting
Worst hotel ever, I had dirty towels, human hair all over the bed, spider web all over the lamps, never again I’ll booked at this hotel, lock was broken, receptionist wasn’t pleasant and and no coffee maker uugghh
Other Than That...
After more than twelve hours of traveling, we needed to get a room for the night. Being late on a Saturday night, we had some difficulty getting a place for the overnight. Finally reached Mr. Pizazz on the pone to see if there was availability, He had nothing to say other than, "Ya, we have rooms." Arrived there about an hour later and signed in with Mr. Enthusiasm. Motel is undergoing renovations. Got to Room 226 to find a microwave, TV, plenty of furniture, working, full size refrigerator, and beds that were pretty good. Double bolt lock and slide guard lock on the door. AC worked well. Ice machine in the laundry room. However, the room was not efficiently vacuumed---pieces of something under the AC unit and dirt in other places. There were a couple of hairs in the sink and on the shelf. The toilet seat swiveled due to a broken hinge. Linens weren't quite white, but clean. No facial tissues available. Not sure if other rooms provided better sound insulation from the highway and trains passing by. Other than that, the place was ok and reasonably priced. (get what you pay for???)
Out in the boonies!!
I realized that I got there late at night but I just wanted to have a place to sleep for one night. The price the guy gave me $60 wasn't bad, but there was nothing there but a closed down chicken place. He seemed to have an attitude when I asked to see a room and I guess I should have looked a little more. I did like the wood looking floors, but it definitely needed to be sprayed for roaches!! I killed one while I was there and found some more dead ones around. I guess you get what you pay for. I only needed about 6 hrs of sleep a shower and out the door I went.
