No longer motel 6
It's no longer motel 6 but now it's the emporia inn or something like that, according to the sign.. still looks like motel 6.. so there front desk worker came out in sweat pants and a stained t-shirt, so professional, not... Stains on the floor in the lobby.. the TV want even hooked up correctly and when I called to the front desk, he wanted me to go outside with my dog while he was in my room with all my belongings, yeah no... The maid was not very friendly either to the point of almost rude. The bed sucked so bad that both myself and my husband was so stiff and sore, he could barely move.. The lawn wasn't mowed either so we had to wade through deep grass.. and last but not least the owners whom I assumed was the front desk worker definitely makes a bad impression overall, I'm just glad that I've been in other motels that are owned by people from India decent who take pride in their business..
Just nasty
First, this is no longer a Motel 6, and is an insult to Motel 6. Second, we have stayed in a lot of motels, but the Emporia Inn (the former Motel 6) is by far the nastiest we have stayed at. We were tired, the first place we went to had a homeless guy sleeping in the lobby, the price was right, so we sucked it up. The floor looked like it had blood stains on it. I tried to clean it with a wet towel, only to have the towel turn black from the dirt and filth. Obviously the room had not been cleaned for a long while. We decided we would minimize contact with any surfaces and slept fully clothed.
Suprise
The reviews looked bad......but there wasn't too many choices since everything else was full. I cannot complain too much. Yes it is old and the desk clerk has the personality of a rock, but the room is quiet, clean and comfortable. Pretty good deal for the buck.
You Get What You Pay For
We chose to stay here because of a newly renovated motel 6 in Ohio which had courteous staff and convenient wood lamanent floors. This hotel also claims the chain's breezy new look, but I was woefully under impressed. The bathrooms are not vented inviting mold growth. The furniture was all wooden, tired, and uncomfortable. The background noise in the room was so loud, we had a hard time communicating verbally. The housekeeping barged in without knocking before checkout. Pretty much a crappy college dorm room... Furthermore, my partner became ill in the night and neither of us got much sleep, so I asked for a late checkout accommodation. Only 15 minutes were allotted because the cleaning staff needed to get to our room. In what hotel are the staff more important than the guests they serve? The two positives were cleanliness and the fridge/microwave combo which we did not have in the last 3 hotels where we stayed. I just don't see the point of anyone staying here. Their car is probably just as secure and more comfortable.
A decent place to spend the night
This location is right off the highway and within walking distance of two fast food restaurants, a few minute's drive to a number of other restaurants. We've stayed at this location a few times and it has been consistently not bad. Sure it's not the greatest but I've definitely stayed in worse. The bed was great, the shower was hot, and the cleaning crew was better than some other places we've stayed. There were some maintenance problems that could be addressed but they were minor. Also the Wi-Fi is weak so we had virtually no signal in our room. In all, if you need a decent place to crash for the night in Emporia you could definitely do worse.
