Good, clean hotel in a nice quiet area.

I was underwhelmed with my first visit to Paris, as I found it to be a dirty city in my opinion. So I’m glad that I chose to stay at this place in Engein le Bains, which is a little far from the Paris area but a lot cleaner and quieter (it was about a 25 min train ride to get to Paris to see the sights, so not bad).
The hotel overall was very nice with a friendly staff, good service and good breakfast. They gave us a free upgrade to one of their nicer suites with a huge balcony so I really appreciated that. The only thing I disliked, and maybe this is more of a French thing, is the layout of the bathroom. The toilets are in a separate area from the sink and shower, which is just weird to me being an American.
But overall we were happy with our stay.
A night in the Dark with no Apology!

I checked in on August 14, 2019 in suite 311. My main disappointment is related to the fact that there was no electricity in my suite, NONE at all. It started with a few lights being out, then the alleged electrician coming to fix it, to finally a night in the dark. It went from bad to worst! The hotel being sold out for me to move to another suite, I was introduced to outdated rooms on the other side of the hotel. Felix from the front desk was amazing, he came to the rescue and set up a bright lamp in my room, which plug was running from the hallway, so that I would not have to move room. He was also kind enough to iron the gown I was going to wear for my sister’s wedding the next day because I could not do it myself with no electricity in the suite.
It was surprising to me that the restaurant did not offer any kid’s menu. It was difficult to pick a meal for my 5yr old who wanted a simple dish such as pasta or French fries. I was told that they could not make anything other than what was on the menu. Consequently, my daughter did not enjoy the “volaille dish” I picked for her.
With all of that said, no commercial gesture was extended to me. No discount, No apology, nothing at all from the management team on cite. As if nothing had ever happened and that suite 311 was fully operational, leaving a happy customer. I felt robbed by the Grand Hotel as there is nothing grandiose about spending a night in the dark. It felt more like an ever-ending nightmare!
Nice hotel with a great spa!

We enjoyed our stay. Nice quiet hotel within walking distance to the train station. Friendly staff! The pool/spa was beautiful and a relaxing way to end our day. Our room was clean with comfortable beds. We had a great view of a lake from our balcony.
Nice but dated

I will keep this short.... my girlfriend and I had 2 nights here last weekend. The location was perfect! very lively and a great atmosphere in and around the town. Some amazing eateries - Le Fouberg (French) & San Paolo (Pizzeria) delicious food in both, the square in town had a small number of great cafes/bars to sit and people watch. There was also a large indoor food market that sold some great food (we bought cheeses and meats for our lunch in the park on Saturday.
The Hotel was great, rooms were very quiet, but the decor/carpets were very tired and dated, the bed was comfortable.
We were given 2 vouchers to use the Spa facilities, very nice and we would have spent longer in them if the sun was out to play! the only negatives; once you enter you cant leave and re-enter, and you can't use on the day of check-out. We have stayed at multiple other locations that let you stay on and use them even on the day you have checked out (makes sense as you're still going to spend money and drinks eating there). They wanted 30 euros pp for us to use them on the day of check out. We also had our car and the charges to park at the hotel were obscene!! 30 euros a day! we had to pay it as I couldn't walk far due to having a bad back.
We will return but know what to expect and will plan better next time.
A nice place by the lake

My second stay here. The hotel is very nice and has a good location by the lake and close to the town. The railway station is within 15 min walk from the hotel.
Good service, okay breakfast, free wifi. The room I had this time was bigger than the one I had during my earlier stay, but the smaller room earlier was in better condition. This one was quite worn out and not as nicely decorated. Having said that, still a nice room.
The hair dryer was not very good, minibar in the room, but empty (well, there’s the complimentary water), tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning worked well.
All in all, I like the atmosphere of Enghien les Bains and this hotel.
