Lovely grounds, interesting apartments
As part of a group we had several apartments here usually with two couples sharing. The rooms were an interesting mix, in most some you have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom, not great for the other couple in the middle of the night (though I will say the large sofa bed in the lounge was very comfortable). Most apartments had a small stove but no cooking equipment and not everyone had tea and coffee making equipment. However, the rooms are very nicely decorated, clean and look out over a lovely courtyard. We ate dinner in the restaurant which had a pub type menu but all the food we had was tasty and well cooked. Service was friendly and getting fresh milk for coffee in our room wasn't a problem. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold choices as a buffet.
Perfect for our one night stop
Lovely grounds. Great breakfast. Spacious family room in two levels. Very good value for money at €100 per night/4 people incl. breakfast.
A contryside pearl
Found this pearl a rainy, dark evening when pressing "Find closest hotel" on my app. And I will defiantly find back to this hotel at summer time, together with my wife for a romantic weekend. With the same good service it will be a success. Recommended.
Surreal experience but lovely suite and grounds
The Suite de la Cour was very comfortable, clean and spacious for our family of four. We loved having two bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and so much space to relax in. The grounds and buildings are very well maintained and given some actual hotel services, the whole property could be relaxing and romantic. Our arrival after a very long journey was surreal. We were faced with locked gates at 5pm and had to call (international mobile rates!) to get the code to open the gate. Once on the property we were faced with a shuttered reception. Another call to the same man (more international mobile rates) revealed that we needed to enter a code into a hotel safe in one of the passage-ways. A mail from the hotel in advance with this procedure would have saved us from a lot of stress. Of course the restaurant/bar/any other service/member of staff was not available and we then had to haul our tired children around the French countryside looking for a restaurant. Tip: we finally found dinner at the Mercure Lille Airport hotel which is about a 10-minute drive away. Also, the jacuzzi bath in our room did not work, but apart from the moment we were leaving and paying the bill we never saw a single member of staff anywhere so that we could ask about this. We would definitely stay again as the suite we had was brilliant, but would firstly get information from the hotel on the arrival procedure and bring a picnic and drinks with us.
In the end it was just somewhere to sleep.
We phoned ahead to advise we'd be checking-in later than the advertised check-in times ... Which wasn't a problem. However, when arriving at around 21:45 we were told there was a private function and so there was no food. This information would have been useful when phoning ahead. The room was clean, although as it was a duplex you had to make sure you didn't hit your head on anything ... Like the stairs for upstairs. There was a small kitchen area with a sink, kettle and a hob. 4 Plastic cups, 4 plastic knives and forks, 4 paper plates and some sachets of black tea and coffee. No milk. The hot water for the tea melted the plastic cups, so hot drinks were out, as was preparing any food due the lack of kitchen equipment/utensils, althoug there was a microwave. The beds were hard and the pillows are too few for a comfortable night's sleep. The bathroom is upstairs and has a shower, which although is powerful - it has enough hot water for only one person and on entry to the cubicle has an aroma that stings the nostrils. We ordered breakfast for one of the the mornings we were there (€13pp) - although due to low occupancy they weren't opening for breakfast on one morning. It was ordered for 09:00. We arrived to find no tables were set for breakfast and they were very angry that we wanted to sit at a table set for lunch. We checked the buffet breakfast ... Or what was left. For the four of us there was one small bread roll, two slices of ham and some dried bacon. That was it for £40. We left without eating. There was poor communication between the hotel and us, leaving you to figure things out for yourself .... Important information wasn't volunteered, such as how to get back into the hotel's grounds when the entrance gates are locked ( enter the code. that's printed on your room key on the key pad)... This was especially difficult at night. All in all, it's neither a hotel, nor self catering apartments - I'm not sure what it is. It's clean and warm, but not friendly, somewhat arrogant and I would not return.
