Worst Hotel Experience -EVER!
I'm super bummed I have to leave this review because I know how much Ensenada and establishments like Hotel San Nicolas depend on tourism, but the service we received here was UNACCEPTABLE and so were the rooms. Dont be fooled by the shiny lobby floors and if you do insist on staying here BYOTP (bring your own toilet paper). On our way up to the room the Elevator elevator door slammed closed on my arm, that door would've done some major damage on a small childs head. It hurt! The hall leading to our room felt like a scene from a scary movie, it was old and dingy. Freddy Kruger vibes! We stayed in room 352 and most of the rooms in that area were under construction, maybe that's why it was so dusty and dirty. Same goes for the room.I had to use my phone's flashlight to find stuff in my suite case, with all the room lights on! At around 7:15AM on Saturday we were woken up by hammering and construction going on in what had to be the nearby rooms. When we complained about it to reception the lady offered us 15% off breakfast, this is the same breakfast discount the front desk lady offered us at check in just for being hotel guest. The beds were so uncomfortable that a few of us staying at the hotel ended up staying elsewhere on sofas and an air mattress. I GUESS IF I HAD TO CHOOSE THE WORST PART OF OUR STAY, IT WAS ON THE SECOND DAY WHEN WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NO TOILET PAPER AVAILABLE UNTILL 7AM THE FOLOWING MORNING. THIS WAS AROUND 9PM ON SATURDAY.
Another Good Experience
Weather forced a change in our plans so we made a run for Ensenada and booked a room at San Nicolas. Check in took only a couple minutes and we were shown to our room. Same 70's style that shows wear, but you can always count on a good experience. The kitchen is open until 10:30 and we grabbed a snack at the bar. Safe and secure parking across the street is always appreciated. The only downside is the rooms tend to be a little noisy-I carry earplugs, so no problem.
OVERNIGHT STAY
A pleasant overnight Stay. I liked the ranch style rooms. Front Desk personnel was very pleasant. I would stay there again. This hotel is part of a casino but it's kept separate. On the side of the hotel where i stayed there no smell of cigarette, not sure if there would be any on the side closer to the casino.
Hotel changed rate
Hotel changed rate last minute, but said if i cancel they will charge one night penalty.what kind of service is this, Check your receipts before you leave if this is your last option. this really ruins a persons family trip
Beware!
This hotel needs many updates. They only updated the entry, to make it look nice, then you go upstairs and see what you paid for. Old out dated rooms. Dirty carpet, that you wouldn't walk bare foot on. The AC lets out a bad odor when u turn on. The iron and blow dryer didn't work. The pool area was nice but had many restrictions. And the spas didn't work. I usually don't leave bad reviews, but it sucks that when you walk in it looks great, then you walk into your room and you get a terrible old out dated room that was over priced. Trust me, look else where.
