During our one day stay in Essaouira, we had the pleasure of staying in the Lalla Mira Hotel. A friend of ours recommended the place, and it was exactly like promised; clean and stylish. The location in the beautiful (and friendly) Medina of Essaouira is perfect as well. Highly recommended.
Staff first class hotel needs investment
Reviewed 24 April, 2019
Perhaps it was just bad luck but we had no hot water for the first 2 nights! This riad could be fantastic, the room we had was large and well furnished but lacked character and those little details. The owners need to invest: I told our host that he and his staff were giving us first class service but that the product they had was second class. The breakfast was okay but the same each day, you could buy extras if you wanted but I had the feeling they were working to a tight budget. I might stay here again if I knew they had invested in the building and the rooms.
Smell of mould
Reviewed 18 January, 2019
We left the place as soon as we checked in since there was no heating (contrarily to what the ad said) and humidity and the smell of mould were really strong. They did refund our money, but we lost one hour, we had to find another place on the spot and we had to quarrel, which is not exactly what you desire when you are on holiday. The receptionist was adorable and tried to help us as much as she could, but the place is absolutely not up to the reviews read. Maybe it’s a good place in summer, but I would 100% avoid it in winter.

Beautiful Riad Hostel inside the Essaouira medina! Easy to find: Take airport taxi for 150 dh to Bab Marrakesh and walk 50 meters, look left for the blue sign "Lalla Mira" or from Supra busstation walk 100 meters left to Bab Marrakesh. Hostel Riad Lalla Mira is a beautiful place to stay, meet everyone in the morning at the phantastic roof terrace for a free Morrocan breakfast, then there is always time for a talk to Dirk and Layla, the very nice hosts (you'll also reach them always by phone, but the beautiful staff will be around 24h anyway). Rooms are spacious and good, shower inside, tours available. Roofterrace (half covered) is gorgeous at any time for sunshine, restaurant, shisha corner... and maybe there will soon be a second terrace... Inside the medina, so everything to reach "around the corner", restaurants, shops, ATMs... Essaouira is a very chilled and safe place in Morocco. Music, surfing, camel and horse rides and beach life is very important in this sunny and windy city. Marrakesh and other spots are easy to reach, too.
