Business stay working on the Campus
Great value for money, but be aware of the limitations. An Hotel this a'int, as advertised, but there are things to know before you book. Amongst others ... there are five blocks, only one of which has a lift, so after FIVE flights of stairs i was a bit out of puff! It was advertised as having evening food, but due to term time the dining room was shut in the evening ... options are a long way away! Bathroom (wet room) was very small... be prepared to get wet feet. The toiletries (a small bottle of shampoo/shower gel and tiny soap) were not replaced after the first day. The car parking is free (great!) ... but a bit of a schlep from the rooms! Breakfast was grand! ... as much as you like and (perfect for me) unlimited coffee!!
Bowls Tour Control Centre.
This was my 4th visit to this great location with its lovelly view across the river Exe. We were allocated a low floor room as requested with the great view. As usual they had all that you would expect in a hotel and each day we had clean towels, new biscuits etc. The bar was very busy and noisey on this visit but still handy. We enjoyed our stay with only one complaint and that was the lack of choice re food at the evening meal. Only a choice of one main and one vegetarian which was not like this on previous visits. On the very good side the breakfasts were to die for and the staff were very cheerful and very willing to help. We have booked for 2020 hopeful that evening meal situation will improve.
Excellent value and great breakfasts
I've stayed here three times in the last 18 months, twice for two nights as try-outs for a 200-attendee week-long event in planning and then for the event itself. This is student halls accomodation rather than a hotel, so rooms are basic, but clean and functional, and some have lovely views. Daily housekeeping makes the bed and replaces towels, toiletries and coffee tray items as needed. My only complaint would be the showers, which are pretty poor (low pressure and horrible clingy shower curtains). The staff could not have been more helpful, in fact they were amazing. Breakfasts were excellent, with various cold and cooked options. Our event was catered for dinner too and the food was pretty good if not outstanding (decent value for what was paid). Exeter town centre is a 15 minute walk away - but 20 minutes back, as that way it's uphill. If you're looking for budget accomodation in the area there's nothing to fault Holland Hall.
Nice views and good breakfast
The location of the hall was quite nice and the scenery was lovely. The buffet breakfast was amazing with different food options. Our room was quite small and the bed was not big enough for two tall people.
Student Hall offering, student hall delivered
Everything meets expectations of a student hall, some blocks lacks lifts, so it would be good to request accessible rooms on booking if required. The wildlife, ie owls, pigeons and seagulls, is added bonus... Breakfast were much nicer than expected.
