Lovely place

Reviewed 8 november, 2021

We were here at the beginning of November before winter closure. Everything was great. Hotel area is very well maintained. Room - spacious, clean and nice, only the soundproofing (not to be disturbed by neighbours) and bathroom could be better (it was clean - no complains, just a bit older/overused). Food was delicious! Amazing desserts, very good mix of Greek dishes with classic European ones. The best breakfast ever - with plenty of fresh and dried fruits, nuts, local sweets, pastry and classical things. Seafood dinner was a killer! Location is very good for long walks by the endless shoreline (we've even walked to Kalithea and back - really recommend it!) People working there were friendly, accomodating. Animators were great - happy to talk and sharing positive vibes - thumbs up to Martina and Adriyan! And big thanks to the chief!

Some late holiday sun

Reviewed 22 october, 2021

This was our 6th time back at the Calypso Beach and why do we keep coming back? Simply because it ticks all the boxes for what we want. We are a couple in their late 40s travelling without children but with the in-laws and were at the hotel from 2nd October - 16th October. The location is excellent as you literally walk out of the hotel grounds onto a bit of private beach with sunshades and loungers. The hotel caters mostly for Germans so there is the normal early morning ritual of the towels on sun loungers but we never struggled to get something on the beach. Around the pool was a little more difficult but we like the beach. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to Faliraki and there is a sea taxi that stops directly outside the hotel that runs between Rhodes Town and Faliraki for 15 euros return during the day. The food is also aimed at the majority German cliental but I am quite a fussy eater and never struggled to find anything to eat. This is a standard all inclusive buffet type thing which was perfectly adequate but would not suit those looking for a la carte. None of our group were ill at any point during the 2 weeks The room are absolutely fine...a little dated but perfectly usable and in good repair. I'd go for the sea view rooms every time unless you want to look over the main road and hotel opposite. They all have a balcony. We don't bother booking transfers from the airport anymore as a taxi is 30 euros set fare and you can get them at the rank right outside the airport. The staff at the hotel are a major plus point. We have never come across anyone who was surly or unhelpful and the staff faces stay the same year after year so clearly the hotel keeps a loyal workforce. A special mention to Stavros at the hotel bar who remembered our drinks order and often had it ready for us as we walked up to the bar. The premium brand drinks were part of the all inclusive. All the staff spoke some English and certainly more English than I can speak Greek! The entertainment in the evening is...well, entertaining and this is not Las Vegas so set your expectations appropriately. If you are looking for a value for money, friendly hotel with decent food, on the beach, quiet but near enough the sights of Rhodes to visit then this will fit your bill. It is marketed more towards our Teutonic neighbours but their particular eccentricities aside, this has little impact on our enjoyment. Clearly the hotel are doing something right as we keep coming back and have booked already for next year.

Amazing holiday for all the family young and old

Reviewed 4 september, 2021

By far the best family holiday we had in a very long time. The day we arrived we were treated we were treated like superstars. The reception staff were great and Very helpful. Nothing was to much to help us with. Our room was beautiful and very clean. The bathroom was great and the power in the shower was great. The outside area pools, the beach, the bars were amazing and so clean. The outside sunbathing areas have lots of room and you are not on top of other people. The food and drink was 10 out of 10. Breakfast, lunch and dinner always had a great selection and plenty of it. So I think I have saved the best review for last. The hotel animation group we’re outstanding for all to have a good time. The games during the day and the entertainment at night for small and big Kids alike. The best entertainment team I have seen in a very long time and the hotel is very lucky to Have such a team. So I would like to say a very bug thank you to. Kevin Daniele Tiziano Martina Kyristina Fransi Irina Thank you again and I cannot wait to return for another family amazing holiday at the Calypso beach hotel. See you all soon.

Would never recommend

Reviewed 22 august, 2021

We just arrived this afternoon and it became immedately clear to us that this hotel is a 3-star hotel at best, not a 4-star as they advertise it. It is in serious need of renovation -- clearly they haven't invested much in the last decades. The hotel is also seriously understaffed, and you will typically have to wait at least 15 minutes to get a drink at the pool bar, for example. Expect no service at lunch or dinner, as it's all self-service (cuttlery, drinks, everything) -- I can of course get my own drinks, but in every other 4-star hotel you'll have them brought to your table. One of the biggest problems with this hotel is the lack of bottled water. They only give out individual glasses of water, and you're not allowed to refill your own water bottle. This is fine when you're having lunch or dinner, but when I'm going to the beach I don't want to carry half a dozen glasses of water just so I don't dehydrate in the afternoon. (And if you only take one glass with you, you'll soon have to go back and get another one, which will cost you 15 minutes of waiting in line; see paragraph above). This is plainly unacceptable. Another major point of complaint is the VERY limited choice of food both at lunch and at dinner. Usually this wouldn't be a problem if the lack of choice was compensated with the quality of the dishes, but this is unfortunately not the case. So you get a limited choice of mostly not so good dishes. Not OK. The choice of drinks is also limited and not good (no alcohol-free beer! that is not a 4-star hotel). There's a number of other minor things that make for the overall low quality of the stay. The gym is a joke -- one can't have a decent work out there. Snacks outside of lunch and dinner are very limited. You can't get anything to eat after dinner until the next morning at breakfast, and depending on when you have dinner this could easily be 13-14 hours. That's just way too long, and they don't offer anything at all. The walls of the rooms are rather thin and if you're unlucky with your neighbors, you'll hear them a lot. Luckily we are staying on the third floor with a view to the mountain so we don't hear much from the bar at night. Also, consider yourself lucky if you find a sunlounger either by the pool or the beach which is decently located, as there are way too few of them and the visitors reserve them at outrageous times in the moring. What I find most frustrating is that they blame all deficiencies on COVID. They don't offer bottled water because of covid. No late night snacks because of covid. Check out is earlier because of covid. Gym is small because of covid. Seriously? We are greatly disappointed with this hotel and regret our choice. We will not come back.

Great hotel with wonderful animation team

Reviewed 18 august, 2021

We spent 12 exceptional family days at the Calypso Beach Hotel. The sea view is magnificent. Special thanks to the entire Animation team for their professionalism and constant good humor. Thank you in particular to Kévin, Martina and Daniele with whom we spent unforgettable moments during the day for sports activities and also for the evening shows. The rooms are comfortable and the main restaurant is really good.
