European home at high mountains

Opinión escrita el 20 de febrero de 2022

Everyone arrives this place with a Wow as the views from entrance and the garden are just impressive and spectacular. The couple owners take care of the garden so carefully that there are always fresh flowers and candles lightened at the table of public places for day and night. The houses are gracefully built and painted in Tuscany style, there are even a high ceiling window with decorated fireplace facing high mountains feeling like at top of the castle. The other surprising beauty is the sunrise above the high mountain and tea garden, only 5 minutes' walks from the garden , thus to make the sunrise trip more easily enjoyable. The breakfast is also served healthily and fruitfully to start the next journey. The stay here is certainly worthwhile.

The Place to be to View Alishan Sunrises and Sunsets

Opinión escrita el 15 de febrero de 2020

I decided to stay in the Tea Garden precisely for the convenience -- it was located just down the slope from a prime sunrise viewing spot. All I needed to do was to get up, walk up the slope for 3 minutes, and wait. The Tea Garden did not disappoint in this aspect. Of course, for the view, it was a tough drive up the mountain. The roads were a bit difficult to negotiate in heavy rain and in the dark. There was tea field up the slope and it was beautiful. The hotel ground itself was beautiful. The terrace looked out to the mountains and ever-changing sea of clouds. The rooms were reasonable in size and clean. Some rooms had better views than others. Nevertheless, there was an indoor common space for people to enjoy the view and relax when the weather outside was not agreeable. The breakfast was somewhat disappointing. We did not stay in the inn for other meals. There were plenty of choices around if you had a car. The service, however, was very friendly and helpful. In fact, the service made you feel like you could be at home there. I highly recommend this inn for anyone visiting Alishan.

Great service and quiet place to relax

This is my first Homestay experience. Their service is excellent. The place offer good views. If you plan to stay there, be prepare to bring some food for dinner as the nearest eating place sis about 10min drive. But they will gladly drive you out for dinner

Nice B&B with a beautiful view

Opinión escrita el 28 de abril de 2019

My wife and I stayed two nights in this B&B. To reach this B&B from Alishan Hotel, we took the hotel's complimentary shuttle to Alishan Transport Station (not Alishan Station which is for trains) and then the public bus. The public bus ride from Alishan to Longtou bus stop took about one hour. We had pre-arranged for the B&B to pick us up at this bus stop. The check-in was smoothly done by Alan Hsu, one of the owners (the other being his brother, Ricky). Alan was a very friendly host. He gave a demonstration on tea brewing and we chatted for some time in this laid-back atmosphere over the two blends of tea the B&B planted. The room with two big beds was very clean. The toilet with shower had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. A big flask was provided to keep hot water which could be obtained from a boiler just outside the room. The bedroom window looked out to mountains far away. On the first night, Alan arranged for a professional to take us to a forest to see fireflies (TWD 400 each). It was a truly amazing experience. Thousands of fireflies in the darkness reminded us of Christmas lights. Well worth the money. Before the fireflies excursion, the professional took us to Fenqihu for a quick dinner in a restaurant near to the famed Railway Bento restaurant. In the morning of the second day we walked up a nearby slope for about five minutes hoping to see the sunrise but without luck as it was cloudy. Breakfast was served in a tray - like in a plane - and consisted of sausage, scrambled eggs, spaghetti, salad and fruits. Bread, coffee, tea, butter and jam were available at the counter. Overall, the simple breakfast was adequate and satisfying. After breakfast we sat in the sundeck garden, relaxed, and enjoyed the cool weather, mountain view, tea plantations and the rolling sea of clouds. The atmosphere was fantastic! For lunch, Ricky drove us to a nearby restaurant. We had hot-pot soups in the garden. Again, we had a mountain view with clouds engulfing us while we had lunch. What a feeling! The restaurant also served good herbal tea and coffee. In the afternoon we lazed around the garden, chatted with Alan on life in the countryside and also with Ricky on his passion for flowers. The garden was well kept with lots of colorful flowers. We bought three cans of tea and two packets of melon seeds from Alan - all very delicious. We had dinner in the B&B which we ordered in the morning. We had fish porridge and beef stew. Both were delicious, cooked by Alan. We had breakfast in the morning of the third day, after which, Ricky drove us to Fenqihu about 20 minutes away to catch the Alishan Forest Train at 2pm for the journey to Chiayi. Ricky made a detour to enable us to buy herbal tea from the restaurant where we had lunch the previous day. What a guy! We had some time before boarding the train and we explored the old street after putting our luggage in the railway station lockers. The old street was very interesting - many shops selling tidbits, food and drinks in a crowded market-like setting. Don't miss the roasted sweet potatoes. Many thanks to Alan and Ricky for a very pleasant stay in the countryside.
