More about the hotel
Hotel was nice, night staff not so much
Overall, the hotel was very clean and worth the money. We didn’t have any issues until we needed more towels and the night desk staff refused to provide a towel to one of our friends for not wearing a mask even though she has a medical condition that prevents her from wearing a mask (my friend was very polite and kept her distance the whole time). We confronted the desk staff about the incident and she continued to refuse, threatened to call the police on us, and said she didn’t care that it was poor customer service. This was such a rude and ridiculous response to such a simple request that could have been resolved many ways. I will note: the other staff members were very nice and said they would talk to the manager.
COVID-19 update
At the time of this review, the hotel was not serving breakfast yet, but you can get a "grab and go" bag. Room was nice and it felt very clean and safe. I don't believe the pool was open yet. The young lady at the desk on 9/30/2020 was SUPER helpful and so friendly! She helped me with printing a project when the business center printer was out of ink. She was AWESOME!
Could Have Been Rated Five, but...
Nice property. Either pretty new or very nicely updated & well maintained. Was given Room 415. VERY clean! One of the cleanest rooms I've ever stayed in. Kudo's to the housekeeping staff. Comfortable bed & nice linens. Fast, reliable WI-FI. Good A/C. Excellent coffee in the room with a Keurig. My wife and I thought the room coffee was better than the lobby coffee. Good shower and wonderfully thick, fluffy towels. Reasonably priced. All of this would have rated 5 stars, but for a couple of things. In the room, the desk is right under the large, flat-screen TV. If you are sitting at the desk working with your computer, you are sitting about 2 feet from the TV which is positioned right above your head. Otherwise, the room was perfect. When I tried to make reservations via the Marriott app, it wouldn't let me book for 2 nights - I don't know why, so I made the reservation by calling the hotel directly. I told the person to give me the Senior rate, or if the AARP or AAA rates are better, give me the cheapest as I qualify for all three. He said ok and everything was set. At 2:30, while eating lunch, I tried to check in using the app, but it said I couldn't as it needed at least 90 minutes notification if arriving before 3:00. I wasn't going to arrive before 3:00, but ok. I think the Marriott app is not ready for prime time. When I checked in at the hotel, I found I had been given the AARP rate, which was $89 rather than the senior rate of $84. When I asked about it, the front-desk person said she couldn't change the rate because it's already in the system. I replied I wasn't asking her to change the rate, just the discount code, but she refused, saying I was trying to get her to do something against the rules and get her fired. What? Since it was only a $10 difference for 2 nights, I let it go, but I'm not happy about it. I'm a Marriott gold member, but there was no mention of that, no thank you, no upgrade, nothing. Perks are nice, but certainly not required so not that big of a deal. Later that evening, I came down and asked for 2 coffee pods (due to Covid-19, 24 hour coffee is no longer available in the lobby) and the same lady said, "You already have coffee in your room." I told her yes ma'am, I know, but my wife and I already drank those and we would each like another. She replied that coffee will be available in the morning in the lobby. So we can't get 2 more for tonight? She then said ok and got them. I'm not sure what her problem was, but everyone else was very nice.
Comfortable Room for Business Travelers
This seems to be a relatively new hotel. The front desk people were really helpful, gave some great advice for local restaurants. The room I had was large and very clean, pleasant to stay in, and very quiet. Will not hesitate to stay here again when I'm in the area.
No other hotel in Arkansas like it!
If you stay here, be prepared to be charged for "Incidentals" that you never use. You will be charged a minimum of $20.00 per night "in case" you might buy something. Upon check in my credit card was charged for $83.00 more than my room stay. Upon check out, they "couldn't" get my card to go through. I had to produce another card and pay for the stay. Upon arriving home, I discovered they never claimed or reversed the first charge, attempted to charge an additional $436.00 on my credit card which is why my card company declined it, and then took $436.00 out of my bank account. Customer service and Know How is severely lacking. This is the ONLY hotel in Arkansas that does this.
