Hotel Desiree

We booked this hotel based on location to the main train station and price (although Florence tends to be expensive anyway). Check in was quick and friendly. Our room was ok, but looking at the website there are probably better rooms available although they may be in a higher category. Breakfast was good, continental. On the morning of our check out we were to early for breakfast but the breakfast room was being set up so the receptionist said we could pick up some bits to take away with us. Overall a good basic hotel in terms or price and location to both the train station and all the main attractions are within walking distance.

Very nice hotel. Close to the center, shops, cafe, super markets. Clean rooms with amenities, every day room service, 24 hours reception (friendly staff especially Mirka) and nice vintage interior design. The breakfast was typical but tasty.

We stayed at Desiree for two nights in November 2019. The hotel is conveniently located with the central station around 250m. Moreover, the central market is close by. The concierge service was also decent. The washroom in the room was horrible and was smelling. It seemed like sewage water was leaking in the bathing area. The safe in the room was a joke with a pre-set password which you can't change to unlock.

Hotel Desiree is a five minute walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station (the main station in Florence) and very handy for shops, restaurants and other sites of interest. The hop-on-hop-off bus tour also begins on this street, Via Fiume, so it's very convenient for tourists. The hotel is in a 1920s style building with period charm. The lift has iron and wooden shutters that have to be manually closed and the rooms have shutters on the windows. We liked the retro look but some might call it shabby chic. The rooms were clean and comfy. Great range of items in the continental breakfast, so excellent value. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. In particular, Joseph needs a mention as having wonderful customer service skills, going the extra mile to help us feel welcome and comfy. I would very much recommend this hotel as your base for visiting Florence.

Great, cosy place. The hotel lies on the entire second floor of an epoch building, very close to SMN station. At the first and at the third floor, there are two more hotels. As odd as it can be, having 2 or more hotels in one big building is very common in Florence. The hotel has 18 rooms with high ceilings and florentin mosaic floors where you can find everything you need: air conditioning, safe, hair dryer in the bathroom, fridge, internet, etc. Extra tip: Some of the rooms even have balcony!!! Everything has an antique note, even the elevator with the walls and the door decorated with iron motives. The breakfast îs great and the staff îs very friendly and helpful. Will definetly come back.
