Ideal location basic B&B
Room is ideally located right next to the bustling central market of Florence (although it's quite noisy at 7am-10pm), but if you're an early bird its not an issue. Room is basic, no safe deposit box, wifi is a bit slow. The host was great, very helpful and friendly. The B&B was easy to find and just 5 mins walk from train station.
Top location and host
First up, the location: you're a five-minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella station, and right opposite the San Lorenzo market + food court. It's quite central in general so nothing is more than a 20-minute walk anyway. Secondly, the host was very helpful in recommending places to eat: out of the four places she mentioned, I was blown away by three and the other was still okay (though nothing special). For someone who's picky with food and in Italy for the gastronomical experience, this was invaluable. She was also very accommodating to my request to leaving luggage in the property on the day of check-out - though I took any valuables out of it because it was just sitting in the reception. The room was fine - everything was clean, Wi-Fi was slow at times. The window is a little thin so you can hear noise from the street below, even after closing the doors around it.
Well appointed but quite noisy
The room was clean, well appointed except the bed was not comfortable. Veronica was lovely when we checked in, showing us all the sights to see & gave some great recommendations. Unfortunately, unless you are used to hostel-type accomodation, I wouldn't recommend staying here.. the house is very loud all hours of the night with people coming and going (the locks are difficult to use so some guests seemed to be taking 20 minutes to get their bedroom door unlocked which really felt right next to you), we also thought someone in the house was living there and perhaps does night shifts, they were doing laundry and generally banging around plates/chairs etc after midnight/1am. Our bedroom door didn't seem to fully close, so the sound & automatic light did travel in to us. Location is good for train station & can walk everywhere, but as others have said it is actually on top of the leather market so they are setting up from 6am and doesn't seem to wrap up until street sweeping at about midnight (but really if we'd done more research we'd have known this), other areas of Florence are a lot prettier.
Great location and nice hosts
I booked the single room for my mom through AirBNB (I was studying in Florence at the time but she couldn't stay with me). She really enjoyed her stay there. Although the streets outside were noisy, that can be expected anywhere in a city like Florence. She said the WiFi worked great and her room was very clean. The host's husband met us when she checked in, he was very nice and helpful while explaining everything. The location and price cannot be beat. We had turned to AirBNB after seeing the insanely high hotel prices for Florence, and were so pleased with the quality and price of Residence Martin.
Perfect Location
This gem is located in the right place. a few min walk from the train station and you step out of the door and voila you are in the market. Nice friendly Hosts, nice rooms, big and clean. Would recommend!!!
