Quality Chambres d'Hôtes - Guest House Saintes Charentes Maritimes France

Reviewed 9 july, 2021

Valerie and Philippe offer you a very warm welcome. With the COVID situation, they offer guests evening 3-course meals with a glass of wine. Well-balanced home French cuisine and varied meals over the week. Breakfast was truly generous... Valerie will always deliver when you require something of personal taste - in our case bananas - something you rarely find in guest houses or BnBs. Plus, they thought of a snack area on the top floor of the main building where guests can prepare a light meal for themselves thanks to a microwave and cooking plaque. There is also a refrigerator where guests can keep small quantities of food during their stay. The fridge stacked with soft drinks that are on sale; although we didn't need to keep any drinks fresh during our stay, I'm sure that if you ask them for permission to keep a bottle or two fresh, they will agree. There is an information booklet in each room reminding guests that eating in the room is not welcome -politely stated. They could have said, "eating in rooms is prohibited" but being such nice people, they didn't say it this way. There is a small swimming pool central to all rooms - as you can see in the photo. Reminder, it is a smallish pool. Guests can sip a drink around the pool on sunchairs. Reminder: they have a wonderful, well-brought-up white Swiss shepherd dog that is very present and has his territory behind a fence. He's totally friendly...The owners let him out to roam in the gardens frequently. So if you are allergic to dogs or afraid of dogs it's something to bear in mind. Honestly, this is one of the best stays we've ever had. I totally recommend this guesthouse. Valerie & Philippe at two of the most wonderful hosts you could hope to meet. We were sad to leave... Another plus, there is a pharmacy around the block.

New owners but same great accomodation

We have stayed here in previous years but this was our first stay at the b & b since it has been taken over by new owners, Sandra and Wilfrid. They are lovely people and although we speak no French, Wilfrid speaks very good English and with a little help from translator on the phone, there were absolutely no problems. The house is in a very quiet area and has beautiful views over the golf course and has a large private garden with plenty of off road parking. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. A perfect place for either an overnight stay or a longer stay to explore the area, easy access from A10 is an added bonus.

Staying in this house was one of the highlights of our summer vacation. First to mention is the owners of the place — it’s a very friendly and hospitable family who made our stay very comfortable. Secondly, the house was very clean and cozy, it was a pure pleasure to stay here. There is a nice garden and a pool where you can chill in a warm day. The place is very close to Saintes (around 10-15 min by car). Definitely recommend for those who seek calm atmosphere and a real local experience!

Clean, comfortable rooms decorated in bright colours. Very clean. Charming hosts, easy to get to Saintes or Cognac, both of which were pretty and interesting towns. Big garden, very quiet location. Nice terrace to have a night cap on. Good breakfast in the morning. All v good. Would definitely return if in area.

Lovely people and a fabulously sort of quaint house!

La Brumanderie is by a golf course, and is in fact a lovely old house, run by two absolutely delightful people. The room was wonderfully equipped, with everything we could wish for and more (even tea and coffee making; rare in France). We were lucky enough to have dinner with our hosts and two friends and had a truly wonderful evening which we will remember for a long time. Would love to return here for several days.
