OH the smell!
This hotel has the worst odors in the rooms and in the halls of any hotel I have ever stayed in....not even barring cheap motels! Cigarette smoke, musky moldy air paired with marijuana smoke in the halls and rooms. The carpet in the rooms was very stained and ancient. The beds were super low to the ground, yet the toilet paper dispenser was so far from the toilet, that us short people had to take the roll off and sit it on the toilet. The cleanliness of the bathroom was it's only saving grace. We rented 6 rooms for one night (13 people on vaca together), and would NEVER stay here again. The only good thing about it was the rather nice (for a sacked breakfast during COVID) breakfast that they gave out in the morning. However, if we hadn't talked them into giving ours early since we were traveling, they weren't even going to give those out until 8am. Not impressed.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! WORST EVER!!!
Ok, so I've never written a bad review before - ever - in my life. But this place was HORRIBLE!!!! I had booked it very very last minute via Hotels.com the same night as I was driving / traveling cross-country and thought ok, well a rating at 3-4 is perfectly fine , I only need a clean and safe place to sleep for a few hours before I continue on. When I entered, the front desk is wrapped in cellophane foil, yep, not a shield or anything like many other businesses do. Strange, but never mind, right. I asked and was assured of a NON-smoking room. I move my heavy a** stuff out of the car as I see various people hanging out in the parking lot and randomly walking around. As I am schlepping my stuff to the elevator, a wall and a mix of super potent cannabis smoke and all the spices of India are greeting me. (I don't smoke, but love indian food. But this was old, musky, stale, smoky air, mixed with tons of food smells). I keep on going, hoping that my room was at least well ventilated and aired out. I opened the door - old, cold cigarette smoke comes my way. I call downstairs, she apologizes, makes me schlepp my stuff back down again, switches me to another room, this time cigarette smoke, musky moldy air paired with marijuana smoke. At this point I am so exhausted after haven driven 800+ miles that day, its late at night...I checked and the AC filter probably hadnt been changed since the beginning of AC's... NASTY!!!! the bedding / sheets are OOOLD and gross.I called Hotel.com where I booked it and described whats going on. Within an hour the problem was solved, by now its past midnight and I am on my way across town 10mins away, to the Best Western, which was about $40 more expensive, but what are $40 more for a SUPER NICE CLEAN room, without dingy people, without old musky moldy smoke filled air? I have never experienced a worse hotel experience and never left a negative review anywhere - and I do travel & roadtrip A LOT!!! I have no idea how this hotel even got 3/4 stars, it shouldn't even have 1!!!! One last thing, at least the receptionist apologized.
Baymont
Initially my name was misspelled on the called in reservation. I was not given the discount I provided. When arriving, the desk clerk had to leave the desk to check on the room he wanted to place us in. He changed rooms. We were sent to the East entry. No security lock. Main door had locks removed. Bullet hole in the glass door. The room looked like it had not been cleaned. Both beds looked as though the sheets had not been changed. Needless to say, we left. This motel did not clean the building like Wyndham mandated in their portfolio. They need to be shut down.
The staff/manager here are the best!
This is a bit of an unusual review. The Baymont is a fine place to stay in a town that does not have a ton of more luxurious options, but the reason for my 5 star review is simply that the people who work here are stellar! The manager (Shamaal Alam?) assisted me via the phone on the day of arrival as we were traveling back east coming after through the mountains. We had a small dog so our options needed to include a pet friendly hotel. He talked me through our options and upon arrival was professional, very welcoming and even secured us a larger room. He is a credit to the profession. Also, the morning staff (I did not get their names) were great including a solid breakfast before we were on our way again. One of them even found some treats for our little dog! So, while the hotel is fine (clean and comfy), the people at this place are the best!
Great staff
Very clean updated Hotel and very reasonably priced easy access from Interstate I would highly recommend to others very secluded area RV park located behind property there was no restaurants nearby however
