Great service!!

Reviewed 29 october, 2021

I stayed 3 nights and was very pleased. Hotel is well placed, easy to drive to and a short walk to the high street. My room was pretty, practical, very new and excellent views (see photo). Parking is a squeeze even with the overflow, but l found space every time. Breakfast is delicious and has a huge variety in offer. Bacon cooked perfectly, the croissants were especially good, nice coffee. Service was wonderful, very helpful staff. From the reception team, the breakfast team and the cleaning team, all were wonderful. My towel rack was not working but they fix it right away when l pointed it out. Definitely recommend it.

We stayed at the Cruachan Hotel for one night and cannot fault it at all. Rooms were spotlessly Clean. Beds very comfortable. Staff very attentive. Breakfast amazing. Bar area nice and relaxing and comfortable. I actually had left my makeup bag in the Hotel which they kindly posted back out to me. Will definitely be back. X

Enjoyable experience

Very friendly and professional staff. Lovely location overlooking Loch Linnhe, and an impressive room with quality decor and fittings in a tasteful style. Breakfast was a self service buffet with a good selection of food. The bar area is comfortable and relaxing and drinks still available after the bar has closed. The dining room was closed for dinner due to staff shortage, but the whole town seems to be suffering staff issues so it’s wise to book ahead if a restaurant meal is desired - there’s a good selection available. Would happily return to this hotel.

Don’t stay in this hotel if you want a shower or a good night sleep

Reviewed 5 october, 2021

DON’T STAY IN THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT A SHOWER OR A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. We were allocated room 132 for two nights mid September. It was on the second floor and at the back of the hotel but was extremely small and dark, but we did accept it. When I tried to have a shower that night the water was only warm and dribbled out of the shower. It was impossible to wash/rinse your hair under it. That night I got no sleep what so ever, the bedroom walls are paper thin and the person next door snored all night!! In the morning I again attempted a shower, this time I could not get any hot/warm water from the shower, only a dribble of cold water. Yet it was hot in the hand basin. Reception were informed of the problem and she said maintenance would investigate. It was a repeat of the same problems with the shower on the second night. However we did have new neighbours next door they were talking in a normal way and I could very easily have joined in their conversation. Another sleepless night! When we checked out I again mentioned the shower problem. Apparently maintenance hadn’t reported back to reception. I said for what we had paid they had not supplied the basic facilities to shower and sleep and I felt some sort of compensation should be considered. She promised her manager would email me that afternoon. I heard nothing. I have now emailed them twice and I have had no reply from them or even an acknowledgment. Their customer care is non existence.

Great stay in an excellent location

Reviewed 30 september, 2021

We stayed here for 2 nights on a staycation in the Highlands but principally to catch the West Highland Line to Mallaig and over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The hotel itself overlooks the Loch and is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the town centre with its pedestrian-only main thoroughfare. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cruachan from a lovely welcome at the front desk to our check out on departure. The room was very pleasant, clean and spacious with an excellent bathroom. We were right at the back of the hotel in a more recent block that housed the bedrooms and really had no view but that did not spoil our stay in any way. All Covid protocols were strictly observed by hotel staff although too many guests, for our liking, did not comply! The cooked breakfasts on both mornings were delicious, hearty and wholesome with a great choice of both cold and hot items. There is also a small residents' lounge which was quiet and pleasant where we enjoyed a time to read and admire the view. All-in-all it was a most enjoyable stay and we would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice place in Fort William.
