Stink, Stank, Stunk

Was a smoker for 33 years, I quit 5 years ago, my wife and I were looking for an affordable place to stay in the area to visit for our anniversary, checked in at 6, dropped bag in room, noticed room smelt of cigarettes, that old stink that hangs onto the carpets, linens and curtains. We figured we would let the air circulate and go about our business and head to dinner, we returned at 9:20, still stink! Went to office to check out, asked for a refund due to the smell in that room, was told NO. If your looking for a place in the area and this is the only place with availability I suggest you opt out and sleep in your car. Honestly, I warned you. Picture below is of super trendy decor. Christmas just threw up some faded reds and greens

Were told on speaker phone that 12 pm was ok for check in. Then when we arrived the story changed and it was and extra $30. After hemming and hawing he finally said " just give me $20". Not wanting to drive around with all of our stuff we agreed.
Asked about the pool. Said he had to go take the cover off.. asked about the fireplace and all we got was "afternoon" . Our son wanted to use the treadmill and the manager acted kind of put out to plug it in. There goes that.
So. After settling in we had to ask AGAIN for the pool. "Right now?" Yes, now. We have a 12 year old who wanted to swim, thats why we chose this place. Pool was FREEZING. Not heated at all. Ok. So we go back to the room, which now smelled like weed. Like skunky putrid weed. We are cool and all but come on, really didnt want our room smelling like that. (Guys next door)
You have to slam the toilet handle to get it to flush, our plugs were falling out of the outlet by the window, there's a crack in the windowpane.
Sign in lodge says to ask before using the fireplace. Manager is nowhere to be found. "Firepit" out back is filled with garbage and there is something like crisco out there that another guest stepped in .
Got woken up at 6:30 AM by the people next door cranking their music. Really bassey music. No sh**. . That kept going until they started their 2 moving trucks up and let them run for over an hour before blaring the horn and taking off. This is a SUNDAY MORNING .
Cigarette butts outside of room on ground. ( ashtrays right outside of room)
Walls are paper thin. Shower head is so short and bad water pressure.
Manager can speak English but suddenly it gets worse when you need something.
Breakfast was just ok. Had orange juice and a banana.
Beds are ok. Pillows, not. Not enough towels!
Tv setup is messed up. Make sure to read the paper on the tv stand.
Sketchy to say the least.
Good location for area attraction. Spend the extra and stay somewhere else where you can actually use the ammenities.
DO NOT STAY here - they DISCRIMINATE

DO NOT STAY HERE! They DISCRIMINATE against people with disabilities. The manager and employee are horrible, lie, and BREAK THE LAW. Inexcusable! I arrived at 7:30 pm when it was already pitch black. I informed them ahead of time that I had a service dog. When I walked in I said hello. I didn't even get a hello back just a "you have a dog." They ignored the laws and ADA regulations and wanted to charge me $50 for my service dog. Keep in mind the room with tax was $72. I informed them of the law and they were breaking it. They didn't care. Kept repeating the same thing about $50. Ignored the law. The manager also said I didn't inform them ahead if time and that was why lie. And not applicable anyways. They don't deserve your business. Stay away! I was left at 8 pm with no room in the middle of the countryside in pitch black. I had no phone service or wifi. It took me 3 hours to drive out of the way to a place with wifi and get into a new room at another hotel.
Great Spot in Franconia

We had a very pleasant stay at Stonybrook. The check-in was efficient and the staff friendly. We wandered around the grounds in the evening. There is a pretty river out back and a pond.
We did not have time to use the indoor pool, but it looked nice. Our room was comfortable and had parking right outside the door. The bathroom was small, but we managed fine. We would definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.
A really old-time lodge with huge timbers.

Spent three nights at the Lodge. When we arrived, I was informed that we had no reservation even though I have an e-mal stating that we did. The room was adequate but needed a dusting before we took occupancy. To their credit, the place has air and a ceiling fan. The lodge features a large fireplace and plenty of seating. The indoor pool was also well maintained, which is a plus since the outdoor pool was removed (the state came up with some strange regulations a few years back which prompted many motels to bury their pools). The breakfast was sufficient but not up to the quality of the big businesses. The pillows were a plus...not the skinny ones found in lots of motels. However, the towels were much like other places...needing to be replaced simply because they have been laundered so many times. One of the youngsters with us lost his wallet and we thought it was a lost cause, but the owner had it in his possession and was waiting for us to call so it could be returned.
All-in-all, it was a warm, comfortable, quiet place to stay.
