More about the hotel
Great hotel, but not the best location for a family
Great new hotel with a good Breakfast. We took a standard room with my wife, in general we liked everything, good design, comfortable bed, there is climate control. I recommend including Breakfast(good choice of food, everything was delicious, fed in the same hotel on the 7th floor with a good view, there is also a bar). The hotel is located near the Taunusstraße street, which leaves not the most pleasant emotions. This is a street that is crowded with casinos, strip clubs, bookmakers and a plentiful number of homeless people. I recommend going around this street a block or two on the way to the hotel and choosing a different route to the old town from the hotel, for example via Mainzer Landstraße > Taunusanlage, which goes to the old Opera house.
Basic but Solid
The rooms are are modern - we think it may have been recently renovation - clean, if a bit on the smaller side. The hotel is very well-located near the train station, and also not too long of a walk to the center of the city. A nice perk is that you can get a drink voucher for the in-house bar if you opt for forego room cleaning for a night.
Chic hotel with great value!
We stayed at the niu Charly in December while visiting the Christmas markets and other attractions in the area. The hotel is located close to the train station in Frankfurt, which was very convenient to walk to and from. As others have mentioned, the surrounding area can be a bit unpleasant, but we never had any trouble when taking the shortest route from the train station to the hotel, instead of taking other side streets to get there. Otherwise, the location was very convenient for accessing the train and sightseeing in Frankfurt. The hotel room was in great condition and was very modern. Very spacious bathroom with an awesome shower. You can also have breakfast and visit the bar on the top floor of the hotel.
Christmas Market Weekend
First time in Germany and I must say the trip went pretty smooth & I hadn’t a word of German. Arriving at the airport there’s a free shuttle bus to the train station which only took about 10 mins if even ..& even better the city was only a 15 min train ride! You can very much walk (10 mins) from the main station to the hotel or take an Uber if you have too much luggage (google maps didn’t help with this as it took us about a half hour kept bringing us in circles & it was only down the road ). So let’s get into it.. the hotel is in a kind of “ dodgy “ area of Frankfurt .. My friend & I didn’t realize this. It’s very weird because the first few streets out of the hotel are full of drug addicts & sex shops then all of a sudden you get to a very touristy area with lovely shops & restaurants. The junkies don’t even look at you or bother anyone they just go about their business doing you know what & strangely enough my friend & I didn’t really feel unsafe after a day lol we walked these streets frequently through out the day. The hotel gives off hipster vibes, very cool reception area with games and cool pieces of art, the rooms are small but very cozy. The bathrooms have a Big shower space and the showers are AMAZING like 10/10 in hotel showers. Breakfast is good not a huge selection but definitely efficient and tasty. The Christmas market was FAB.. it’s about a 15-20 min walk very easy to find but we rented electric scooters which got us there in about 10 mins so much fun. Even with the area the hotels in I’d still recommend it.
Unpleasant location
It is a very chic hotel and near to the train station but i wouldn't recommend it given the location. Druggies everywhere and is near to red light district. I have travelled extensively in Europe and this is the most unpleasant location i have stayed. I can bear the homeless or drunken but not druggies. Even the supermarket nearby, I won't go there again. I just simply feel uncomfortable. Other than that, the room itself is very nice only the bathroom is a bit odd with the hair dryer right near to the hand soap and with a big sign asking you not to splash water on it. Also, no countertop inside the bathroom which is impractical
