What a dive
Reviewed 9 October, 2021
Received email the day before our stay to inform us that the pool and gym were closed. Was too short notice to book elsewhere, was declined a partial refund by reception staff. The hotel is old, dated and eerily empty - reminded me very much of the hotel in the shining. The room itself was freezing cold - no warm air coming from the air conditioning and I had to sleep in my coat. The shower was pathetic, with just a mist spraying. One towel between 2 people. Don’t get me started on the food.. worse than school canteen quality and ridiculously over priced. Half frozen chips and mushrooms out of a tin. The only good thing about the place was the barman, he was really nice and helpful. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody, it’s awful.

It was an ok stay, the price was above the standard achieved, staff helpful, but it needed more due to competing priorities, breakfast was ok, bedroom very comfortable and views over lake good, as previous comments this is more a motel than boutique hotel
Good value comfortable and clean

Absolutely fine for short stay. Room dated but large clean and best night sleep for a while. Breakfast freshly cooked and fine too. At price they charge very good value. Staff very hospitable and polite too. Recommended - good alternative to Heathrow hotel if travelling on.
Comfortable 1 night stay

Stayed here for 1 night as in the area for a birthday party.
Easily found and check in was easy.
Had room 179 a deluxe double.
We had a balcony, fridge, air con, coffee machine and the most comfortable bed.
I do agree with with other reviews that the hotel is old and out of date, really does need a lot of work but it suited our needs for n overnighter. We came back in late evening and stayed in the pool room.
Sayid was a fantastic barmen who kept us topped up with drinks and snacks throughout until he knocked off.
Breakfast was nice the next morning but was a little slow in restocking the food as there were quite a number of customers in at the same time.
Booked on booking.com so price was about what we expected to pay for bed and breakfast.
Not suitable for Holiday
Reviewed 29 August, 2021
We booked just one night for cycling trip. Because we were looking for just a bed to sleep, we booked a cheapest room (still £107.00 a night inc breakfast), however, it was not really worth it. It is more like a motel and I would say this kind of hotel would be charged €40 a night in France.
I can see that this hotel used to be lovely but now it looks very tired and old fashion.
It smells dust in basement where we stayed.
The room key is a key with a big metal, which you don't want to put it in your pocket to carry.
It was acceptable for one night, though I could not sleep well, but if this was a holiday, I would probably have left after one night stay.
Anyway, here are more details of my review.
Room: Standard double bed
#130: basement, no view, smell of dust and window was sealed with gaffer tape. (cabweb at corner)
We asked to change the room because we want to open the window.
#120: basement, facing car park, smell of dust, dark corridor
- Not double bed. two single bed put together
- Uncomfortable bed (I could feel every spring inside of mattress)
- Very powerful shower but takes ages to get hot water
<Breakfast> - buffet style
- English breakfast
- Selection of mini pastries
- Selection of Cereals
- Fat free Yoghurt
- Fruit juice (better to avoid, tastes like a powered juice)
Breakfast was OK. I did not see vegetarian options.
<Swimming pool & Gym>
Very friendly and cheerful
