This hotel is wonderful. The rooms and amenities are awesome. We had a premium sea view and the view was beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing with so many options. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus service to the marina area of Funchal to further explore old town and catch the cable car to Monte. The customer service at this hotel is the best, they really go the distance to make you comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent Hotel and Staff

The hotel is very clean and modern, the rooms are spacious. There are a variety of room/views, my room basically overlooked the front of the hotel. The road was a little noisy but it did not bother me in the evenings or a night. There was a little balcony to my room but to be honest you wouldn't really spend meuch time there (It was good for drying clothes). If you had a sea view rom this could be different. The staff everywhere were always friendly and polite. The breakfast at the hotel was superb. I cannot think of a larger selection of food set out in any hotel I have ever stayed at. It could get busy at breakfast time but not enough to being frustrating. You could also have a balcony table to look at the sunrise over the atlantic while you have your breakfast. Every evening the hotel had artists/acts on. Everyone I saw were very good and it was a nice way to relax in the evening. It has been said by other but the prices at the hotel for drinks is expensive. Drinks in Lido and Funchal that would be 3-5 euros were about 7 euros in the hotel. There are plenty of dining options within walking distance as the hotel is in the Lido area. A free shuttle bus is provided several times a day by the hote. Using the BOLT app taxis from Funchal to the hotel were about 10 euros. The hotel had a nice little gym and spa area, including indoor pool and sauna. Due to covid the sauna was closed. This hotel really has everything you could want and I would recommend it to anyone
Lovely stay, clean with a lovely breakfast buffet.

Wonderful stay at Hotel Baia Azul. I was hestitant on the run up thinking we may be too far out of the centre of Funchal - however, the immediate area nearby is fantastic for sights, restaurants, bars, and a hub for excursions. The hotel offers free shuttle buses and if you did fancy the stroll into Funchal its a lovely walk where you can discover a number of restaurants and bars. The breakfast buffet is great. It can be a bit busy during the peak hours, in this instance 8-9 - but we moved to an earlier time slot (7:30am) and each morning was a pleasure. They even open the continental breakfast from 6am, suitable if you are heading out on an excursion for the day. The staff are very good and the barman at the sun deck bar on our first day made time to say hello and talk to us about the island. Another chap serving during the days at the blue bar was very attentive and polite. The barman who wears glasses, who did the afternoon/evening shift was a tad grumpy - think he needs a hug! The room was spacious and clean, and every day we would come back to some treats on the table - a lovely touch. We had a room on the island facing side, which whilst lovely was quite noisy into the night with traffic - I think a simple disclaimer on the website to let people know would be nice, as its likely we would have upgraded to the sea view for a more peaceful trip. The bar prices are a tad more expensive when compared to the local bars and eateries so more often than not we headed out for food and drink. Example, there are bars serving poncho for €2 as opposed to €5:5 at the hotel - but i suppose those bars dont give you the conveniance of a pool nearby! We would not hesitate staying at this hotel again!

From the very start I lived this hotel. The staff were very friendly & helpful and the hotel was spotlessly clean. I paid a little but extra for a sea view room and I am so glad I did. I was on the 10th floor & had a stunning view over the pool & the sea. I was B & B and the breakfast was tasty & plentiful. I booked a time slot when I booked in but it was easy to change through my stay. Sal, the ala carte restaurant served delicious Italian food. The pool area was lovely and the staff on the pool were were great and extremely attentive. There are a number of very good restaurants with a short walking distance from the hotel and they provide a free shuttle service into Funchal 4 times a day. I had an amazing time at the Baia Azul and would definitely stay here again.

This review is purely to give our heartfelt thanks to the only member of reception staff who has her head screwed on. Ever since we arrived she has been amazing. We booked trips with her recommendation but most of all she made all the testing and hassle of the Covid-19 go away. She seems to be the only one who helps and get things done. We would give the lovely woman a medal and a raise.Having talked to other holidaymakers who hadn’t come across Marissa I thank the stars we we lucky ! I am sorry if we have her name spelled wrong but she has short blondeish hair and I am sure a lovely smile behind the mask xxxx
