Best Hotel in Gainesville
The AC Marriott, a dog friendly boutique hotel with very modern sleek designed rooms is the nicest and newest hotel catering to those visiting the University of Florida. The perfect location for walking to restaurants, shops, and UF! The rooftop pool and gym have amazing views at sunset with the Century Tower and Gators stadium in view. The lobby is very clean and smelled appealing. The modern bathrooms were very well done with a rainshower. The elevators ran smoothly as did checkin/checkout. The bar desperately needs more experienced support. $20 Parking in designated garage next door made checkin slightly complicated. I felt it was a good value and would highly recommend.
Nice rooms, but that's about it
The outside of the hotel is nothing to look at and doesn't have any 'grounds'. The rooms are redecorated and very nice - wood-like tiles and a modern feel. Ample room as well, though you could tell it was an older hotel redone, as the doorway was narrow. The bartender was also the cook- and cook not chef-- we ate elsewhere. And it took forever to get him to get us a drink- AND HE wasn't the best- my opinion arrogant, but not very bright. My husband ordered a Grey Goose on the rocks with olives. He had to go get a bottle as not enough behind the bar... THEN he had to leave a second tie to go get olives... uhm, shouldn't you have scanned to see what else you needed. Then another guest ordered food, instead of asking the other guests, can I get anything- he just left.... we left had to get the front desk to tab us out. AND- NOT the best for covid-19 cleaning... no cleaning at the bar... so we sat where some just left... It's a very small area.
Dismissive and unfriendly staff
Upon checking out this morning I pointed out that the strong sewage smell was unbearable. The answer I got: we are sorry about that but it was even worse a few hours ago.... then I showed him pics from weird marks on the floor in my room and the answer was: “those don’t come off. Have a safe trip.” I have been living abroad for many years and remember dearly the days when the hospitality industry was far superior in the USA to what could be found in Latin America or Europe. Well, no more of that. it’s even worse in the USA now. No customer service whatsoever. I do not recommend this hotel. The staff is very unfriendly save for the bartender. And there is no way to get an espresso as they haven’t had a machine since Covid, go figure.
Gainesville's newest and best hotel!
I needed a hotel that would be nice and convenient on my way to Atlanta so I choose to stay at this AC hotel which was newly built and it a great place to stay! I made a reservation for one night and requested a suite to which the front desk staff was more than happy to give me one and it was a corner room with lots of space, two tv's and sitting area. The bathroom was also very nice and modern. Mobile key works great and the hotel is very nicely located close to Target, Chick Fil A, Starbucks and more. I will most certainly return to the AC in Gainesville.
5 star family and dog friendly hotel closest to UF
Awesome location, walking distance to everything on UF campus. Great very reasonably priced food options at AC Kitchen. Complimentary coffee in the lobby in the am. Super dog friendly with dedicated dog outdoor relief area as part of complex. Very efficient checkin - no valet at present, self parking - very convenient. This AC has always been our choice to stay in Gainesville and now we can visit our Gator son with our 10lb dog - the whole family is happy. Appreciate the staff at AC Marriott going above and beyond to create a welcoming, safe clean environment with very challenging Covid circumstances. We will be back every month!
