Modern, clean, spacious. Questionable management. Big trip hazard in hallway that prolly would cost $10 to fix. Haven’t stayed in a place for years that didn’t have a ice machine. Advised to turn on ice maker in in-room fridge. But I needed a drink now! Mood would pass by morning. Seems indifferent
This place is just alright

I didn't realize Candlewood was part of Holiday Inn. My wife and I traveled to San Marcos for a weekend and stayed a night here. We sought a room the allowed pets. For some reason, the Holiday Inn in front of this property did not allow pets, but we stayed at an exact replica Holiday Inn in San Marcos that did.
At any rate, the only problem I had with this location is that it is situated behind the Holiday Inn basically on the same lot. So, it's easy to pass up, and once you've done that, it's about a five minute turn-around.
Being behind the HI makes this location a bit quieter.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Ultimately, I don't think this Candlewood nor the HI in San Marcos are worth what they charged. And, the discount they offered for AARP was actually a higher price than you can find it online. So, somehow, through a third party you get a better rate. Also, Candlewood solicited to my email a survey that was a bit much - they wanted over 500 characters in a review.

Positives: Spacious rooms with lots of storage. Kitchens are stocked with plates, bowls, cups, and silverware for two people, as well as several pots and pans. The hotel utilizes a check out and borrow system for a variety of appliances, games, and movies. Friendly staff. Complimentary coffee and fruit offered, with other snacks and drinks available for purchase. Complimentary wifi with no issues. Large selection of television channels. Gym room and free business center on site.
Just Okay: Free washer and dryer usage are offered, but detergent is not provided. Housekeeping offered once per week. Our room only had a nightstand on one side of the bed.
Negatives: No pool. No fan vent or window in bathroom. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash are bolted 6 feet up on the shower wall. No travel toiletries or lotions were provided.
Housekeeping Concerns / Removal of Review with IHG
Reviewed 13 June, 2019
The check-in and check-out process was smooth.
The entrance and lobby were very nice.
The bed was uncomfortable.
The bathtub had what appeared to be a dirty large footprint in it.
No bar of soap was available for washing hands at the sink in the restroom. We used the small bottle of dish-soap in the kitchenette.
The chair in the room was grungy and heavily worn.
The ice maker had not been emptied from the prior guests and the ice was one block frozen together in the freezer.
The coffee pot was not cleaned from the prior guests. I washed it myself before using it.
There was large amounts of debris in the floors, specifically the corners.
Photos of the footprint in the tub, the grungy chair, the old ice block, and the floors are included in this feedback.
This review was entered in the IHG rewards program. I received an email confirming it was posted. I recieved an email saying there was a response. The entire thread has since been removed from the IHG program and is not factored into the star rating. I was never able to view the posted review or the feedback that prompted the email notice. I did provide all feedback to the front desk upon checking out. The associate apologized and advised he would inform housekeeping.
A wonderful place to stay when you need less stress in your daily life

We had a plumbing at our home and with all that stress, it was very refreshing to know that a person can receive all the stress free daily life.. The rooms were great, the staff was very helpful and the accommodations were more than you could ask for. The Manager made sure every day that if there was anything we needed he would do whatever he could to help us out.
