Great Marina Front Place
The Hampton Inn in Georgetown South Carolina is located on Marina drive. As the street name implies there is a beautiful marina in front of the hotel. This is a nice place to walk through or sit and watch the boats as we did. The hotel is typical of Hampton Inns which means very clean and helpful staff. Unfortunately do to COVID there was no breakfast and no room service. It didn't see that any adjustment to rates was offered and as a Hilton Member that was a little disconcerting.
Pool is Still Closed
When I made my reservation, there was no mention at all that the pool was closed. Nothing on the app at all that said that the pool or fitness center were closed. In fact, the app said that the fitness center was open. I even called the hotel directly to change my reservation and it was never mentioned. I arrived early on check in day fully expecting not to be able to check in but very much looking forward to using the pool. As I walked in the front, the lady working was out front smoking. I read the sign and was obviously disappointed and asked, "the pool is closed?" to which she responded, "yes, all pools in SC are closed." This was a bold faced lie and I told her that I had stayed at the Marriott last week and the pools were open. She said well all pools in Georgetown are closed and again, this was another lie. I had friends staying at the Best Western in Pawleys and their pool was open.She then said "well, you can cancel if you want." with the worst attitude I have ever seen. And then she said well your room is ready if you want to check in. By now I had already driven all the way there so why not just check in and go to the beach which I did. The room was ok but the AC was unbelievably loud. Now normally, I actually like this because I can turn the unit to on instead of auto and drown out all the noise. This was not the case here. All units turn off whenever they hit the desired temp. I asked the front desk guy this later and he said yes, people ask that all the time.
Trip back home
The hotel was great and felt safe. Very clean and everybody was so helpful. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. We were there when the country started shutting down, and I felt like y’all did great considering the the new challenges ahead of us.
Excellent Hotel!
We found the hotel to be ideally located and very clean! The complimentary breakfast in the morning is wonderful--a great variety of options. The rooms were large and felt very clean. Also, the hotel was quiet.
Very good Hampton
Great location for summer but we were there in March. This town does not present a favorable first impression because of the huge paper mill that dominates the view. There is a sign promoting the historic district and it is very worthwhile. Once you turn down that street the ugly mill fades from memory and the wonderful old storefronts and classic homes take center stage. From the hotel you can stroll around the waterfront or head through the lovely neighborhoods towards town for drinks and dinner. We were greeted warmly by the man at the front desk. We liked the newer layout of this Hampton. The breakfast is better than Hampton used to offer but of course it's not like Hilton Garden Inn.
