Annual Fall Visit
My wife and I made our annual fall visit with friends to Gettysburg and stayed at the Quality Inn Battlefield on Steinwehr Avenue. We have been going for years and always stay there. We love the proximity to the battlefield and to the dining and shopping locations. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we request the second floor facing the battlefield as it’s very quiet and a great view of the battlefield from the balcony. This years trip was quite different due to the COVID conditions, guidelines and social distancing restrictions. The Quality Inn did a great job with adhering to their guidelines while still making our stay enjoyable. Their modified breakfast to-go was still very good and the staff there was helpful and friendly as always. We look forward to staying there again next year and hope for everyone’s sake this pandemic is under control.
Will never stay here again
Terrible stay. First and last time here. Positives, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Orange juice was good at breakfast. Negatives. Booked interior room with large tub. Got there and no elevators. Cant do steps due to disability. Given exterior room with no large tub. Front desk employee less than friendly. Later found out plenty of interior rooms available and not sure why given exterior room. When got in room, a spider crawling across bed and in the coffee caddy. Wanted to call front desk but phone not working. The 2 times called front desk on different occasions it rang to voice mail. A prior guest had put something heavy on the desk which caused it to buckle in the middle. Walls are thin and you hear your neighbor and a ton of noises. The guest next to me were very loud. I understand not hotels fault that noisy guests but I called front desk only to get answering machine. When I spoke with one of the general managers about all the problems, he was so rude. He just made a bunch of excuses and acted like I had never stayed in a hotel before. He said spiders are outside and they will get in rooms. He also said when front desk is busy then dont answer phones. I worked front desk at a hotel and we always had to answer the phone when rang. I complained about how treated when told of disability and couldnt take steps and he could have cared less. He did nothing to make up for stay. After I filed a complaint with Choice Hotels, he called me back and said would mail me a $20.00 check. He said I paid for stay with points. Not true as had to purchase points for stay. Check was mailed 8 days after checking out. I am sure if they do respond to this review, they will make excuses and not take responsibility and that is fine as I know what happened.
Another amazing time
We have stayed at this hotel for the last several years. They are awesome people. Always there to help with any questions. We love it so much we have friends that join us and they book at the same hotel. The staff always tries to getvus as close to each other as the can. Very clean, friendly, cost is great and view is amazing! Can't wait till next time.
COVID traveling at it's worse
Booked this place with the namesakes website as well use them a lot in our travels and are usually pleased. We have travelled, knowing the COVID restrictions. So we knew to expected less than normal services. While this location had no major faults other than a TV remote that took a rocket scientist to use, it was not really up to the normal QI standards even taking COVID into consideration. The front desk was not staffed when we arrived and waited about five minutes before someone cam and checked us in. The room was OK, large two room area with a nice mattresses and lousy pillows. Bathroom was clean and well maintained. The COVID type Coffee area was a tiny table in the lobby. We slept well with no noise from the hallway or traffic. But we would probably go elsewhere if we come back though here.
Off Season Visit to Gettysburg
I have been to Gettysburg 15 times in my life and have stayed at this establishment every single time! The location is perfect: you are within walking distance of Cemetery Hill, Cemetery Ridge, Culps Hill, etc. Being in town, it is centrally located to multiple great dining spots. The rooms are spacious and the prices are affordable. The continental breakfast is always delicious with a wide variety. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend this hotel enough!
