Do not stay here.
I stayed here as part of my tour. The hotel itself is ok, but as everyone smokes everywhere it does not help with the air quality. The issue for this place is the staff and their attitudes On my first night I asked for my safe to be repaired. I asked four times and it was never attended to. All it needed was new batteries. When I phoned the receptionist was rude, abrupt and dismissive. On the second time I stayed here I arrived at 6.30am and was left at reception by the tour company. They advised me that my room would not be ready until 2pm. I sat in the lounge area to wait. I dosed off and was woken abruptly at 9am by someone who works there. They were shouting at me asking who I was and what I was doing there. I have never been spoken to like this as customer. On that night I bought some food outdoors and took it to my hotel room. I asked four times for cutlery and did not get any. Wifi was terrible and at one point I sat in the lounge, the waiter came up and asked me to leave as I was not buying a drink. I explained I was a guest at the hotel and needed to use Wifi as I could not use this in my room. He continued to ask me to leave. The ladies who worked at the hotel and the older gentleman who dealt with luggage storage were very pleasant. Some basic manners and customer service skills needed here.
TERRIBLE.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights while in Egypt and I would not recommend this place at all. Terrible service to start off! Had to call 2-3 times just for help with the safe and asking for towels. Eye rolling waitresses during breakfast. We did not feel welcomed or respected our entire stay here. The hotel does not look like what’s shown in the pictures; the appliances are old and they don’t supply you with water in your room. Again, TERRIBLE.
Don't put yourself through this nightmare
Pool full of pigeon poo unable to use Derelict areas of building No room safes working Service in restaurant non existent - 2 hours to get one drink and chicken with cold chips served by eye rolling waitress Larges buses of tourists and luggage not processed through security scanner 'Men's club' operating off main foyer of hotel... need to walk past this to get to rooms No lift to breakfast area Rooms smelling like cigarettes Mouldy bathrooms Listed as 4 star which is an absolute joke
Would I stay here again? NO!
Amarante Pyramid Hotel - Giza EGYPT Why I would never willingly stay in this hotel again. 1. The restaurant. We and another couple from our our group decided to dine in the hotel restaurant on the night of our arrival. Apart from our table of four, there was one other group already seated and they had ordered. After making our selections, there was a very long delay - probably 20 minutes - before someone came to actually take our order. After that process (which took a while due to language difficulties) we figured meals would be along in due course. NO, on THREE subsequent well-spaced occasions staff attended and double-checked what we had ordered. (Were they late-night-shopping for ingredients?). Eventually our meals came, not entirely matching our orders OR the menu descriptions. Nevertheless we consumed them. Getting the bill was another problem. It took several iterations and delays (each time "ten minutes ...") before it eventually arrived, probably 30 minutes after requesting it. All throughout there were four or five staff visible near the bar area doing nothing. I would hate to dine here on a busy night. 2. Location. There were no nearby eating establishments (Western or otherwise) to provide an alternative to the hotel's restaurant. That is NEVER a good thing in a city. Beyond the ATM on the front of the hotel, there were no nearby banking facilities (or frankly anything of much use to a visitor/tourist). 3. The included buffet breakfast facility. Products would run out and there would be no staff around to request replenishment. Then you'd discover the next item was out and have to repeat the process. The actual time required to complete breakfast was probably double what it would have been if properly resourced. Given that we were "on the road" all day, it was an important meal to get right. 4. The wifi. Trip-a-deal offer this hotel as having wifi. Well, it does - but although you can generally connect to their network, getting actual internet access is another story. On the second night it didn't work, not just for us (across four devices) but also for others in our group. At the end of the third day touring, we returned to find the same - no internet connectivity. Reception staff seemed surprised/puzzled, tried their own cellphones as well as the tablet of one of our group. No joy, so they reputedly requested their network support attend. Wait and see time, but it's not looking good. Update: nope, an hour later and still no wifi. Can connect to various access points but no internet. Took one iPhone and a ThinkPad to reception. They tried on both without success, using both our current and fresh login credentials. After about 15 minutes of that I simply gave up. 5. Airconditioning. The room aircon had a wall thermostat, but the system totally ignored it. It DID respond to the ON-OFF switch, but ON was freezing and OFF became to warm and stuffy, so sleeping was not the restful experience that travellers require. In-group discussion revealed that the issue wasn't just our room, it was hotel-wide. 6. Hotel general condition. The complex looks like it hasn't seen any proper maintenance in literally decades. Roof has openings in the tiles with hordes of pigeons accessing the roof void to roost. Renovations appear long on-hold (D wing), whole place is dusty, pool closes at 6pm, ... Update-update: Our itinerary had us back here for one night before departing Egypt. Nothing had changed, we could still connect to their network but STILL NO INTERNET.
