Nice but not great

Stayed here for one night in October- check in was good- room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a good if a bit grubby shower.
Building works are going on outside but you can’t blame the hotel for the noise. Breakfast was a help yourself affair with choices of fruit, cereals and hot cooked sausages, bacon & eggs etc.
Despite having face mask wearing signs all over the hotel- only about half the guests chose to wear one - which was unchallenged by hotel staff.
Overall good value hotel if you looking for a cheap stay in Glasgow.

The location of the hotel is perfect: it's just a minute's walk from Glasgow Central, and 15 minute walk from the city centre. The staff were brilliant, the size of the room was fab, the breakfast was nice, and the COVID measures were good, too. However the decor, albeit nice, was a bit dated, and on my last full day there it had rained rather hard, and my room, which was on the second floor, has had a leaking ceiling (that was the only time there was a leak that has stopped too soon after the rain). Upon letting the receptionist know about it, I've been moved, but been told by pretty much a throw away comment that the maintanence knew about it (then why put me in that room? The incident does make a good story to tell afterwards, though!)
Great find and location for the right price, albeit a little dated.

I stayed with a friend for one night. The location is excellent just minutes from Glasgow Central station. Our room was spacious and clean although there were signs of age such as wear on the carpet - not dirt just scuff marks. Our bathroom appeared to be recently refurbished with great water pressure and temperature - although the bath wasn't usable as the plug didn't fit the plug hole.
The cooked breakfast was very good given the price paid, including the offer of second helpings and top ups. Not gourmet by any means but standard catering affair. COVID measures were good with staggered access to the food and masks required (consistently worn by staff, hit and miss by other guests) but it was quite busy in the dining area. Staff were helpful including when I needed to get our TV remote batteries changed.
I had been put off by some reviews but it seems many of these were due to use earlier during COVID. However keep in mind there is construction happening directly opposite the hotel, we were at the back so didn't have any construction noise, although we were woken in the night by some people knocking loudly on another door down the corridor - not specifically the hotel's fault but quite irriating.
Security in the hotel is a little lacking as anyone can walk in, there's no key card needed to get past the reception to the corridors, there is a safe in the room though. There was luggage storage in a locked room, however no effort was made to actually check I took the right bag out when collecting (although if someone really wanted my clothes then...).
At £40 for a refundable double room including breakfast on a Saturday night I was very happy with the value for money.
Excellent value hotel

Very pleasant 2 night stay in this hotel. Great sleep in a very comfortable bed, spacious room and spotlessly clean. Power shower in a great bathroom facility.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the Full English (Scottish!) breakfast included in the price,
All this and for an extremely good price. The hotel is located a couple of minutes walk from the Central Station and all city centre facilities. Can't beat this for value and I will certainly be back whenever I stay in Glasgow.
Great Location, Hotel a bit dated

Booked this for TRNSMT and on arriving at the hotel early, they very kindly accommodated our early check in request. The rooms were very large and spacious, clean and with ample tea/coffee facilities. Downside was the decor was slightly dated but still lovely. Breakfast was good, they had a great variety - APART from when I asked if they had a Gluten Free menu as my daughter has coeliac disease and I was told 'no, nothing gluten free here'. Quite off putting - they had eggs/beans/bacon and mushrooms in the hot plate which are normally gluten free, but my daughter did not want to take the chance of cross contamination with the ladies firm statement that nothing was gluten free. They did not even offer to make an omelette or suggest anything else that would be appropriate so my daughter had to go without breakfast. I would kindly ask that in future you could perhaps offer a Gluten Free menu.
