Mixed feeling

Booked in yesterday. Lovely young receptionist upgraded our room with no charge. Lobby was lovely and was our bedroom on the 10th floor. Our dinner last night was very disappointing. We waited 25 minutes for our water and wine. The young American hostess did her best but very short staffed. The meal was average to say the least. Breakfast this morning was ridiculous. I asked a chef for 2 poached eggs. After 15 minutes asks another chef for my eggs. Again he went away. Came back and assured me they were on the way. After waiting another 10 minutes left without them. I spoke to the man who checked us in and explained what had happened. He apologised asked our room number. I had hoped for a better standard of service for a Crown Plaza.

Not worth the money!

Yes, the hotel is very convenient for the Ovo/SECC but is extremely overpriced for very average rooms. We were on the 12th floor and the corridors and our room smelt very damp. The cost of the car park is ridiculous too and should be included in your room price.

We stayed here when we visited Glasgow for a few days after coming from Edinburgh. We chose this hotel because we wanted secure parking and a quiet place to stay within the city. It's right next to the SECC centre (now OVO), overlooking the River Clyde. The hotel is okay but we expect a higher standard for its rate. During our stay, there are floors that are being renovated. In our opinion, the room is a bit outdated although it is still good and clean. The breakfast is also good, not as many choices as with other hotels we've been to. The indoor pool is fine with a sauna and steam room (rooms are a bit small) so we try to go when it's not busy. The same with the fitness centre. We had a couple's massage but with separate rooms.

Not the best for the prices paid.

Stayed here for a Charity AGM and frankly was shocked at the level of service and staffs comments. Throughout the day staff had to be approached for toilet rolls to be put in toilets and water glasses for water dispensers. Staff at the evening meal had to be reminded that they shouldn't clear plates when people were still eating on the table. Numerous staff introduced themselves as waiters for the table for drinks and then disappeared. Bar staff suggested the bottle of wines available were limited and only when waiter staff asked about prices of wine glasses and bottles did it come to light that other wines were actually available at over £10 a bottle cheaper and not £8 a glass. Bar staff made comments the next day that they didn't get home till early morning to other guests because they had an event in hotel, (i.e. our event) and they were not impressed...I had a charity top on so they knew I was listening amd waiting to be served. Rooms were OK, although doors required full body weight to open and close...which did not fill me with confidence re if there was a fire how I would gey out. Empty Fridge had a light and this kept me awake a lot of the night. Paintwork etc was pretty old and whole suite was in need of a refresh. The price paid for this hotel and the cost of extras its worth thinking is there a better hotel to go to. I think thar as next to SECC they are ripping customers off and being blasay about customer service. Reception staff were good though. Very professional and helpful.

Exceptional

After being moved to the Crown Plaza Hotel after our original hotel over booking, we were delighted with our stay. I have a severe nut allergy and the kind lady who signed us in at breakfast, asked the chef to make me a separate cooked breakfast to avoid any cross contamination at the breakfast buffet. This makes such a difference to someone who has an allergy or intolerance, so thank you! The rooms were also very clean and had comfy beds. The bar and reception staff were also lovely. We will definitely be back again. Thank you.
