Hard to believe.
I came to celebrate 15 years of marriage. Hard to believe that for the cost that you pay, you have to wait so the shower can warm up. I called the front desk and said that the shower was lukewarm and she said I would need to wait, because the boiler was still warming up. I really didn’t expect that any hotel in this level a hot shower would be a concern.
Charming
It’s hard to think there’re Switzerland-like cities in Brazil. But it’s possible! Although well known by our beaches and hot weather, Brazil also has a foot in Central Europe thanks to the multicultural colonisation. This boutique hotel is located in one of that cities. With colonial constructions and cold weather, Gramado is a great place to be in winter times. The hotel provides the adequate environment to a nice stay, a good breakfast, big rooms with heating and equipped with fireplace and hot tub compose the climate. A cordial and well trained staff help with the stay. Two bikes are provided as courtesy, with them is possible to explore the city and get in shape. Highly recommendable.
Amazing, beautiful, charming
We chose to stay here for the first part of our honeymoon, and it was magical. There were cakes, chocolates, tea, and champagne waiting for us when we arrived. The first night, they put candles and rose petals all over for such a romantic scene. Every morning, there is a beautiful, delectable buffet with fresh breads, cheeses, fruits, cakes (!!!), and made-to-order items available until noon. The chef made different cakes everyday, and would put some slices in the rooms in the afternoons for tea time. They never disturbed us, but would take note of when we were gone so we would always come back to a freshened room. We absolutely loved our stay here and definitely recommend it to others who are looking for a hotel that really pays attention to its guests.
Go with someone you love and you will not want to leave
What a beautiful romantic place. We would not have left the hotel if Gramada was not such a beautiful place. We really enjoyed the room which was big, well decorated facing onto a wooden area with the birds singing. Evan say some toucans. They have everything you want there, small not big a fancy like a big time resort but intimate. The service was excellent, they set up a Spanish/English speaking guide for us, helped us find places to go and do. The breakfast had everything you would want and with good quality, breads, pastries, fruit, juice, eggs, cereal, yogurt, great coffee. Highly recommend it!!
Perfect stay in every aspect!
When checking Varanda das Bromelias in TripAdvisor, I have to confess that I was a little put off by the couple of bad reviews that the hotel received. One of them, in particular, was an unusually long and really bad review (“Stay well Away from this terrible Hotel!”). At the end, after unsuccessfully looking for other options I Gramado, I decided to try Varanda anyway. Well, I have to say that my stay was PERFECT in every aspect. The room I stayed in (#43) was simply beautiful! It is really huge (in a big city you would get a room this size only going for the incredibly pricy largest suites in 5-star hotels). But more importantly the room looked like newly refurbished, something that is not really common to find nowadays. Apart from that, the room decoration is really pleasant - it feels like home and you have the feeling of having gone for a weekend in you own countryside getaway. A really strong point of room 43 is the bathroom. It is incorporated to the room, well lit, and have a nice wallpaper that adds a charming touch to the room. The bathing area in the mezzanine is AMAZING. Service in the hotel was extremely friendly. The girls in the reception took good care of all our requests in a timely manner. One of the highlights of the hotel is the breakfast. Everything is homemade and everything is DELICIOUS! Thanks to the chef for the amazing experience! The common areas of the hotel are beautiful. The swimming pool area looks really nice, although I haven't had time of going for a swim. The gym also looked like new, and the lounge in front of the restaurant is very pleasant. I had my family with me this time, with my 3-year old and my little 6-month old boys. The hotel treated them really well. The kitchen prepared a special soup for my younger boy. The room was prepared with bed, crib, bathtub for the baby, etc. To sum up, I was deeply impressed by this hotel. It is a boutique hotel in a small town, but in terms of what really matters (room, service at the reception, breakfast, etc) it is comparable to any 5-star hotel in São Paulo - with the addition of the nice countryside feel. Before I finish, I should say that my stay in Varanda made me reflect on the way I check a hotel in TripAdvisor. There is always a couple of people that have really bad things to say of even the best hotels in the world. Beware of these bad reviews, as they can prevent you from knowing little jewels like Varanda das Bromelias.
