More about the hotel

Christmas break
Booked for 3 nights half board, for Christmas on Elba Hoteles website, at a great price and had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel was very clean and the room was a good size. We asked for a quiet room and were given a room at the back overlooking the snow capped mountains of Sierra Nevada. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was a good sized bathroom. The hair dryer was great, but could have been positioned better as was difficult to sit and dry hair while looking into mirror and the shower over the bath had very little pressure, but there was copious hot water. The buffet breakfast was the best we have ever had and there were so many choices in the hot dinner buffet, including several main courses that were cooked to order by a chef. It was also so nice to see so many vegetable dishes available. We would certainly recommend the food, although if we are a bit picky, the only failure was that the buffet dishes dishes were not piping hot, but there was a microwave available for you to use if required. There was a jacuzzi, a small indoor pool and a gym which we used at no extra charge and also a sauna, which we did not try. There was free WiFi internet available, but it was rather slow. Fine for someone on holiday, but might be a problem for a business traveller. There was secure parking in the hotel at 6 € per night and off season, you could probably park nearby for free on the road outside. We would certainly recommend the Elba hotel as excellent value for money with very helpful and friendly staff and if we are in Motril again, we would return.
Two day stay
Situated within 100 yards of the beach we stayed here for two nights on bed and breakfast rates. Hotel was quiet so prices were very reasonable at 100 euros for the two nights. We were given a large double room with a view on to the beach and with the largest king size bed outside the USA!!. Breakfast was buffet style with a wide selection of meats, bread, cheese and also English breakfast bacon and eggs etc. As this was in the quiet season the main dining room was closed at night so we ate in the cafeteria in the bar where only a fixed price 3 course meal was available at 18 euros. Choice was limited and food not particularly great so we ate out the second night. Hotel has a heated indoor pool, sauna, gym and hot tub on the 4th floor with views on to the beach, and a sun deck. There is an outdoor pool but this was closed for the winter. Safe in the room was 2 euro per day and hotel car park was 6 euro per day but street parking is available and sufficient at this time of year. Strange to report that air con was switched off and central heating on which meant the room was pretty hot at night so had to sleep with window wide open, We can recommend this hotel but might be more expensive and busier in the summer months.
Grand Hotel Elba Motril
I stay at Elba Motril with my family on the road from Malaga to Granada. The family room was very confortable for 4 people with two separate rooms. The hotel has a very good breakfast, a little internal swimming pool and a complete fitness room. Confortable also the external swimming pool. Motril beach is very calm and in the night there isn't any movida on the promenade. The best town to visit with life and amusements near Motril is Nerja.
Great .
I wish I’d booked this hotel for more than the 1 night . Although we weren’t happy with where our room was located 104. Nice room but was hoping to get some late afternoon sun absolutely no sun on this room whatsoever. However we had drinks in the bar then decided to eat dinner in the restaurant .. Wow what a surprise typical hotel buffet style but can’t recommend enough the chefs cooked meat& fish while you waited , great choice of everything . Chocolate fountain & fab choice of puddings. Back into the bar to catch the resident entertainer , he was brilliant such a laugh . Breakfast was also fab . The pools were lovely , well kept & clean . Downside was the receptionist Angel , wed said ahead that it was husbands birthday but he hardly acknowledged us other than us booking in , therefore he surly wasn’t interested in who’s Birthday it was . We actually didn’t feel that welcome. We’d defiantly go again and maybe ask for sea view room
