You have no idea how good this is!
This B&B is amazing with the host Charles, doing his but to make everyone feel so welcome, it’s your home away from home. We checked in on the day in the afternoon at 4.30, which seems late for some but you go to places to have a look around so that’s what we did before hand. We met Charles who is such a lovely man, he made us so welcome we immediately thought, when can we come back. After spending about 45 mins with him showing us what is around, he took us upstairs to show us our room. But due to a couple cancelling we ended up having a larger room with a wonderful bath, shower and all. Breakfast was beautiful a good selection in a wonderful room, I can’t say anything more highly. I have to tell you though, when you enter the house and then the rooms, they are full of 1890’s charm, wonderful corridors and stairs, lovely rooms and quite honestly one of the best I’ve seen. I was a hotelier for 20 years and was a hotel judge for awards, but if I came across this hotel anywhere in the world, it would win. Full marks to Charles and full marks for the hotel. I love this place and if you don’t visit here soon, you are missing out.

Lacking empathy to UK quarantine regulations
I booked 4 rooms for my family and I to stay for one night at Villa Primerose on 16th August, en route to another destination in France. I booked one of the rooms on 30th July and two on 9th August. Throughout correspondence with Villa Primerose, I made it clear that our circumstances were in possible doubt due to UK quarantine restrictions. Our professions meant it would not be possible to accommodate any introduction of quarantine due to travel in France. Upon the UK quarantine restrictions being introduced on Thursday 13th August, I immediately informed Charles and the team that our plans had to change. Whilst I had translated the French terms & conditions of the booking and understood that formally we had no right to cancel, I had expected that empathy would be shown given the situations and expectation setting I had done in advance. I was wrong. I was charged in full for all four rooms, even after multiple exchanges and attempts to suggest a compromise. I attempted to suggest that one of the two bookings be refunded and then after I learnt that one of the vacant rooms had been filled, suggested that just one room be refunded. No compromise was accommodated. I fully expect that Villa Primerose may respond to this review and defend their position. I appreciate, and myself tried to show empathy, that as a result of circumstances Villa Primerose will have had costs that needed to be covered, and lost out on revenue associated with the remaining vacant rooms, plus dinner and drinks that we would have no doubt enjoyed if we were to have stayed. But my dispute is the complete lack of empathy to the £410.12 that my family and I have lost out on as a result of circumstances outside of our control - circumstances that in my opinion call for understanding and compromise across the world. In my last correspondence with Villa Primerose I was told that I am only thinking of my own situation and not being fair. As a person that prides myself on being fair in every aspect of life, I believe it is Villa Primerose that is not being fair.
Fabulous host made our stay one we would love to repeat
We were stunned by Villa Primrose as we pulled up in front of the iron gates and looked at at the magnificent building but as well as the grandness of the building itself, we were made to feel so welcome by the host. We used this as a stop over between Calais and Morzine but it really extended our holiday - especially having a delicious dinner and breakfast prepared for us ( the best croissants in France!). We'll be back!!
Perfect stop over
Stayed here with my family overnight enroute to the south-what a charming stay! Highly recommend this property-Charles is the host and cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. We had a plentiful and delicious dinner out in the terrace surrounded by the beautiful gardens. Breakfast was delicious. Charles took the time to ensure his guests were all happy and spent time giving advice on the area and improving our french....it was a super stay. The only way it could have been improved would be a fan in the room..as it was a particularly hot night/heat wave!
