Overall the 2 night stay was a disappointment especially for what we paid. The family room had been refurbished but the bed sofa was of a poor quality so extremely uncomfortable for sleeping on and the sheet on it was ripped. We were only given one pillow each until I requested more and these were old and very smelly! Considering there were three of us sharing the room it was disappointing to only be given two small packets of biscuits between us and only one tiny shower gel and shampoo between us. We weren't given extra toilet roll on the second night so had to request a roll at breakfast! The cooked breakfast was fine but the fruit on offer was very disappointing, over ripe bananas on both mornings and I've never been given one slice of toast on my breakfast plate and not a rack on the table. Such a shame, it could have been much better.
Perfect end to a bad start

Flat tyre on way home meant an unexpected last minute stay at the Priory Hotel Cartmel. Family room, bargin price. Wow what a delight. Decor set to a high standard huge bed really comfortable. Pull out bed 10/10 from our teenage son. Staff on point and breakfast lovely. Would definitely recommend and will return.

A great welcome into the hotel. Staff very helpful offering to taking our cases up the stairs to our room. Room was faultless, comfy twin beds, separate sofa/seating area with TV. Tea/Coffee facilities with capped jug of water. Information book on things to see/do, always helpful. Bathroom was spacious with fluffy, white towels and very clean Staff were very friendly, taking an interest in conversational topics. Breakfast was cereals followed by cooked breakfast choices, toast, tea, coffee and juices. Definitely a gem in the middle of Cartmel Square

Pleasantly surprised! I stayed in the single room overlooking the square. Extremely clean and comfy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous must have been local produce as the quality was great, especially the sausages. I’ll be back! Thanks for a lovely stay 😊
Rude staff, terrible service, unfriendly atmosphere.

My mother politely asked the bar staff if food was still being served as we were aware that we were towards the end of lunchtime, and a woman behind the bar barked at us and said “it depends” and gave us a vague answer in a very rude manner. She then very brusquely asked where we were sitting and we explained we had just popped in to ask first because we understood that they were busy, she raised her voice at us and said “you have to get a table number” I tried to offer to go and find a place and come back in but the woman snapped at us and cut me off. My mother tried to say “we did see a table just outside on the left” as we had noticed it on the way in but the woman behind the bar would not listen to her for even a moment. She then shouted again about how you have to get a table number before ordering. I cannot understand how any business would allow staff to speak to customers in this way. We left without having food or drinks as we had intended feeling that the service would be poor throughout our visit and that perhaps the terrible standard of customer service would also reflect the quality of the food and drinks. I do appreciate that it was a slightly busier time, however both my mother and I have worked at various times in public and customer service jobs and hospitality and are always very polite and understanding to staff. It was deeply disappointing to have that basic courtesy thrown back in our faces, and I have to say it gave the rest of our day out in Cartmel an unpleasant atmosphere. We run a holiday home business near the area and will be warning our customers not to visit this establishment.
