We totally love this charming hotel so when we decided to get married at Visingsö, Amalias hus was the obvious place to stay. The staff has treated us so well and everything, the room, the breakfast, the dinner, the staff that really catched our “vibe” and made the whole stay so delightful has been even better we ever could wish for. (And as it’s our third stay, our expectations we’re high, but they managed to exceed them!!) We’ve stayed here before and we will definitely go back!

Hoel Amalia is just a lovely gem in the town Gränna. The hospitality is amazing and they did everything to make us feel welcome. We had both dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend this place!

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Opinión escrita el 26 de julio de 2020
We booked this place few days ago and I had an accident on my leg that made us unable to go, so in order to cancel it we called a day before just when that happened and the receptionist was RUDE and told my boyfriend that he will NOT help us because he was busy... that was UNACCEPTABLE. We called several times... and then this receptionist lied and said that he could not do it because we booked through booking.com and they couldn't cancel without any additional charges. So we called booking.com and they told us that they NEVER charge if the hotel agrees on a "free" cancelation. So this receptionist LIED, was a lazy guy who thought we will just give away that amount of money for free. In the end booking.com called them and sent them more emails and they finally had to agree. It's UNACCEPTABLE that someone in this situation, someone that is a receptionist in a hotel tells you that they WILL NOT HELP YOU. We have all the papers from the hospital and photos to prove my injury. They LOST more than 2 customers because we wanted to go and now we are happy that we are not going to stay in that bad quality hotel with people that don't care about keeping a client and providing a good service. We instead booked a room at the Gyllene Uttern Hotel in 3 weeks when I feel better. So please consider improving your service in order to avoid losing further customers.

Great hotell and great staff
Opinión escrita el 13 de julio de 2020
Okay, the title basically sums up the entire experience, so let's start off with the bad: the lack of AC. The only bad thing I have to say about this hotel, as long as you understand the nature of these old 1800-1900 era houses, is the misguiding note on the booking website: that AC is included in the room. There was no ac-unit in the room we booked and no, a floor fan is NOT an AC unit. So, to the good things: Great and welcoming staff with a good sense of service and professionalism as well as a healthy dose of charm, this hotel has what you'd expect from the large price tag. The main building is a coazy and beautiful authentic villa from the classical period of this beautiful area, the music being played is calm and elegant and the food is great! You can clearly see that they take their job seriously and that they cater to people who wants quality over quantity. The villa is situated along the Gränna Main street, just att the base of the Gränna mountain, yes the stairs up to the top are about 20 meters from the hotel, and is made up of a large main building as well as several classical smaller buildings. All of it creating a calm and refined Swedish setting from the 1800-1900's. You'd almost expect to see people in top hats and period clothing walking around. The rooms reflect this time period perfectly albeit with modern luxuries tastefully incorporated into the classic design and environment. If you choose to eat at the hotel I'd suggest you book your dinner well in advance, it's worth it! You'll be pampered by the staff, given good suggestions as well as treated to great food and drinks. To make the most of your stay, take your time and make sure you don't have to worry about the cost. It's not horribly expensive but the time here will be much more relaxing if you let go of the worry. I would absolutely stay here for longer and make this a standard choice for my future travels to Gränna. It's well worth it! By the way; don't forget your camera! The area is incredibly beautiful!

Sooo charming!

This is an extremely charming hotel located right at the entrance of Gränna. The hotel consist of many small and old buildings which have been restored. This means that all rooms are different and they seem to have focused on keeping the heritage when restoring them. We stayed in a room which used to be a Doctor’s clinic in the past and we were very satisfied with the room. The breakfast was good with an OK range of cold and warm choices. You were also able to make your own waffles which was highly appreciated by our daughter. The staff were friendly even though we didn’t see much of them during our stay as our room was located some houses away from the front desk. Only negative thing is that the room rates are high, especially during summer.
