Mediocre
We’ve stayed here before, but I don’t know if we’ll return. On the good side, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and our dog was allowed. We also picked up a nice dinner from Elmer’s down the street. On the down side, don’t accept room 114. It’s right next to the elevator and was noisy. In fairness, when we complained the staff offered us another room but we were only staying one night and were settled in so didn’t move. We should have. A second floor room might have been better. I realize that we are in the midst of a pandemic, but the breakfast offerings were dismal. A tired bagel wrapped in plastic was just not acceptable. We stayed in other hotels on this trip and they managed much better. There was hand sanitizer inside by the exterior doors, but mask wearing was not enforced in hallways and public areas.
Old tired musty smell and thin walls
It's an older HIX property in need of a refurbishment. The air smells dusty and musty, like the AC filter hasn't been changed in several years. One of the AC when I turned on the heat had a broken hairdryer smell and spewed out dust so I quickly turned it off. Very thin walls. In the morning I was woken up by my neighbor's TV at like 630am, and then again at like 8am by housekeeping cleaning that room. I'm guessing they weren't really trying to be loud, but the small bangs actually shake my walls and headboard. Could not sleep more than 5-6 hours as I was up late doing some last minute things. Otherwise it's an HIX. Breakfast lady (covid rules) was a little rude but whatever. Front desk was nice and assigned me their best room (with a small sitting area) as an IHG plat, but unfortunately this place is in strong need for some refurbishment to bring it up to current HIX standards.
Very clean and conscientious!
I only stayed one night during a driving trip from the Central Coast of CA to Seattle. It was really welcoming after my night at the Ramada in Williams, CA. HI Ex. really have the cleaning thing together, the door has a sticker saying the room has been sanitized, the remote is already in a bag saying it is sanitized. I travel with a "clean bag" and still go over all the high touch surfaces, but really felt the room and hotel were clean. I ordered in and it was delivered to my door. It was quiet and I got a good nights sleep. Keep up the good work. My experience has been really solid with HI Express lately.
Always our choice in Grants Pass
This hotel is convenient and clean. The front desk staff is always courteous and friendly and it is quiet. Not the easiest to access but close to the freeway and plenty of eateries close by. It is attractively decorated and maintained well. We have stayed here with our dog and now without and no matter, the pet rooms are just as nice as any of the other rooms. No discrimination for pets like other hotels. We like staying at Holiday Inn Express because of the choice of soft pillows and the breakfast selections. And "they're back" the best cinnamon rolls in the morning and fresh chocolate chip cookies at night. Thanks HIE.
Dog friendly
We had originally booked at a different hotel but switched since this one was dog friendly. If you are looking for a somewhat modern, clean, dog friendly hotel that serves breakfast, this is the place for you.
