We have been coming for years. Unfortunately, this has become an overpriced stay where you expect high end service and it now sucks. Valet parking is so expensive and you end up waiting at least 30 min to get your car. We don’t blame the poor kids but obviously management of it are two thumbs down. When we arrived, there was an empty ketchup packet on the room floor. The room smelled weird and the window (to what could hv been a beautiful view) had small hand prints on the bottom glass. I wanted to call immediately, but my husband said to leave it instead of having to move rooms. Oh! One night we were waiting for valet. We saw our vehicle, the keys were in it on the dashboard and we took off. Imagine! Anyone could have stolen the vehicle! Is the hotel understaffed? Poorly managed now? Just don’t expect to get 5 star service, just because you are paying for it! So long Gaylord! What a disappointment you have become !
Lone Star Christmas

It is magical and beautiful but they nickel and dime you to death! The Elf help save Christmas was a total flop! Just a raunchy video game with not enough for the amount of people. The snow tubing and ice skating you can do over and over again which is worth your money. Everything else is one time.

I brought my 4 year to old to do the Halloween activities last month and it was great. Everything was well run, the events and activities were top notch, our room was awesome (room service was awful but that was the only thing sub par). Most of all, you could have fun without the stress of COVID because they had the process of cleaning and keeping people safe down to a science. So I felt confident spending several hundred on a room and several more hundred on activity tickets to come back for the Christmas events. BIG MISTAKE. HUGE. I’ll start with COVID. Do you want it? Come and get it!! Suddenly with an entire ‘Christmas Village’ built on the idea of kids running around touching everything and games designed to put your hands on, there’s no hand sanitizer anywhere. Oh, there’s sanitizers set up but in the two days we’ve been here not a single one has ever been filled. Nobody wears a mask and it’s not even encouraged for anyone to do so. In the breakfast buffet, no more plastic gloves out for ppl to use, etc. Instead, everyone’s germy hands are touching all the food and the food isn’t even always protected by the sneeze guards (I’m sick just writing that! GROSS!). We went to the Cirque Du Soleil show last night, which was ok. BUT, you’re sitting in your neighbors’ lap and that’s not an exaggeration! Everyone in our row was talking about how shocking the set up was. There’s zero space between chairs and every chair in the place is filled. Not even social distancing between families and no masks. Part of the show actually features an entertainer SPITTING balls into the air and spit flying into the crowd. I kid you not. The entire family behind us were likely sick with COVID. Coughing, sneezing and blowing their noses all while sitting on top of strangers and my son and I were probably the only ones wearing a mask in the whole place. When I asked to be moved the workers seemed offended that I would even mention how alarming the unsanitary and dangerous situation was and our only option was to stay where we were or leave the show. Which we did. As far as Christmas Village with the sleigh riding and other activities goes, the other reviewers nailed it. It’s not worth the time or money. The Santa and other event photos are awful. My kid didn’t even want to do any of the activities because they were so bad and so obviously set up inside a convention center hall, even a 4 year old’s imagination couldn’t take him out of that scene. It looks like a retail conference with some fake snow in a couple of areas and a small skating rink set up in the corner that’s too crowded to enjoy and a huge area full of junk for sale. I don’t even want to hear the COVID excuse since the Pandemic is apparently over, per the Gaylord’s lack of safety and sanitary practices anyway. What a great time of year to make the choice to relax your policies, GOOD LORD! Also, our room wasn’t clean - soaps, lotions, amenities etc. weren’t even refilled when we checked in. And even though I reserved the larger room and upgraded, we were put in a small exterior facing (but most importantly DIRTY) room. And the room service was still bad, really bad. I’m tempted to checkout tonight instead of the morning but the kid is currently taking a late nap so we may be forced to stay. It’s really bad y’all! Don’t waste your money on a room or fall for the hype over their Christmas nonsense. This is probably our last trip to this hotel which is a shame because we really enjoyed our Halloween visit.
Christmas Event is a waste of time and money

What a poorly-run waste of time and money. Separate fees for everything. Props are cheap looking. “Activities” are nothing but walking through decorations with occasional computer games that sometimes work. But most of all, be prepared to stand in line - a lot.
Santa is Great, the picture quality not so great.

Went very early this year to get the kids photos with Santa at the Gaylord Texan. I bought the $70 package and paid $40 for parking (2 cars). Santa was amazing but quality of prints was terrible. The man playing Santa was fantastic. His outfit looked great and he was very warm and welcoming to everyone. 5 Stars for Santa he was perfect. He was wearing a clear plastic mask which made me so happy as my kids are too young to get the vaccine. The plastic mask did show up in the photos with light reflecting off it. Not a big deal to me, happy we was in a mask and that we can meet Santa at all this year. When buying the photos with Santa package they ask for the children’s names and what they want for Christmas. I was hoping for a little Christmas magic but none of the handlers seemed to be updating Santa with this information. It was the first weekend so I will cut them some slack. Things really took a nose dive in quality once we were reviewing the photos. The quality of the photo is very low. They will crop some of the photos of you paid to have them printed. The other photos have large sections on non-Christmas background that you will have to crop yourself. The quality of the prints was BAD. It was as if they just shook up an empty ink cartridge right before they printed out photos. Very disappointed in that considering the cost. The photos themselves even when viewed on a computer were also not great the lighting color saturation is way off. I wish we would have done the build your own snowman and other activities but weren’t sure how the Santa visit would go. Glad to be done with the Santa photos for the year but wish they were a better quality. The Gaylord Texan seemed way less decorated than previous years. Still a lot going on just not as spectacular.
