Stayed for the first time in the newer building with our own bathroom and shower. Everything looked and worked good. The main building was awesome too, super views. everyone one was really friendly and breakfast and dinners were awesome.

We took the offer of the night in a tent tipi in the garden of the Youth hostel and it was very nice. They made the tipi very cosy, with mattress on the floor, carpets, blankets etc, perfect for a family. You can use the warm tub outside to take a warm bath to relax of your day looking at the mountain, our kids and us really enjoyed it. Be careful the supper is very early so we calculate to be there on 5 pm to have time to enjoy it before going to dinner. We could also make a fire in the evening. Be aware that the bathrooms are in the hostel, so you have to walk up the slope in the garden to go there (for example in the night). And I was expecting total silence at night but was surprise by the sound of the river (which is far but very strong) but it didn't disturb my kids to sleep. Nice experience if you want to have the feeling of nature (fresh air, insects, tent, campfire) with some modern facilities nearby. Very nice spot and view.

Good clean rooms with lovely views of the mountains. The room does not have much but it is also a really cheap hostel. Most of Swiss Youth Hostels are very reliably clean and tidy. If you are traveling with a group of 4, the Youth Hostels are great! The most challenging part about the hostel is getting up to it. It is located up a very steep drive which can be a hard walk if you bring more than a hiking bag. The hostel is a great location to stay to go on some memorable hikes in beautiful area.

This was one of the cheapest places to stay in Grindelwald, but the bus to the hostel only comes once an hour and the hike to the hostel is steep, especially with luggage. Also it was inconvenient that we weren’t able to check in until 6pm and there was no one at reception until then, so we were unable to ask them questions about the city. However the view from the balcony was amazing! It made the insane hike up worth it. Also, the hostel beds didn’t have privacy curtains and there was only one outlet to be shared by the entire room.
