More about the hotel
Great Property, but some mixed feelings...
First, the airport is conveniently located nearby, 2 miles away, and only a $5 cab ride will take you to and from there. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and feels like you're entering a Hilton property. The check in process was very smooth, thanks to Melissa who was very professional, and with some good recommendations of things to do in the area. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and with all amenities necessary for a good stay. There were some negative aspects, and I totally understand that we are going through a pandemic, as I'm a travel agent myself. First, the pool and the gym are open, but only for one hour. Just an odd rule, as I'd rather have both be closed, then on a time clock. The Executive lounge was completely closed due to covid, yet, there was a huge breakfast buffet with a completely full dining room at breakfast? How does that make sense? I asked for 2 drink coupon, as I'm a Diamond Member, and was told that they were only given to flight crew? Again, another ridiculous rule and answer. If I can't use the facilities that are in place for Diamond Members, members who only travel and show loyalty to Hilton, then why am I even bothered giving them my money? Again, I understand we're in a pandemic, but half the rules here make no sense whatsoever. I truly loved the property itself, the close proximity to the airport, the extreme professionalism that every employee showed, and the great room. I would just think they would still try making their Diamond Member feel great about staying here, as we're mostly the reason why the hotel is still operating...
Excellent hotel
Enjoyed my stay here. Very comfortable quiet rooms and beds. Very nice bathroom and updated room. Very Covid prepared throughout the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely come back to stay here!
Low service & drastically Unprepared for COVD on March 9,10,11. EPIC Fail for health awareness in face of Pandemic.
Everyone in the hotel looked at us with our P100 respirators, goggles and gloves , as if we were from another planet. . Perhaps in our researching and knowing what was going to develop, we were just ahead of the rest of Guayaquil. NO ONE on staff was wearing masks, gloves or goggles. A few bottles of hand sanitizer does not protect against airborne and moisture borne virus which can travel up to 15 feet if someone coughs, sneezes, and or exhales heavily, and can stay airborne for over 30 minutes. I was shocked at how unprepared the Hilton and their staff were for such a serious pandemic. As far as I am concerned this was an epic FAILURE, and Hilton Guayaquil placed thousands at risk due to denial, lack of information and negligence. We tried to warn them, but were not taken seriously. 1. A man showed up at our suite to fix water flow, temp and pressure, and he was flushed and sweating profusely. The Executive floor desk said he probably was just working hard, completely unconcerned if he had a fever. He walked into the bath and proceeded to track dirt as he wore dirty shoes in the wet bath and shower floor. I had to call the hotel manager to insist he be tested for fever, and I was informed no Dr was on duty for many more hours. 2. I then requested the entire bath where he worked be disinfected, and the worker sent to clean the bath floor did not have any disinfectant, just a dirty mop. He FORGOT the disinfectant!!!!! 3.) the buffets were wide open for people to breathe and cough on, no food servers had masks nor gloves. 4. The rooms had no stationary, no envelopes for messages, unheard of for a 5 star hotel 5. It took 5 to 6 calls, with endless ringing, and long waits for operators or front desk to answer phones, and sometimes they did not answer at all. Literally NO ANSWER. 6. The suite was fabulous, and the staff were exceptionally polite. We left Hilton and moved to Hotel Del Parque for the last 3 days of our stay in Guayaquil, because Del Parque is truly a 5 star hotel, and I firmly attest that Hilton is not. I do not care which local organization gave Hilton 5 Stars, Hilton Guayaquil falls desperately short of being a 5 star hotel. . I will not bother reiterating the other issues that evidence the unwarranted 5 Star rating, We could not even eat once on the executive floor ( even though breakfast and afternoon buffet were included in the room rate), because food was open in buffets to anyone breathing or coughing on the food and servers wore no masks nor gloves. Many of the guests had been in planes and came from highly infected countries, and yet Hilton saw no reason to take more comprehensive precautions. Hopefully now that Guayaquil is an epicenter for the virus , Hilton will bother to take full precautions and train it's staff.
Spacious room, good AC
Stayed here for one night after our Galapagos cruise. The room was very spacious and clean. The rain shower was lovely and there were nice bathroom amenities. Our room was close the elevators so we could hear some talking from the hallways. The hotel building is very modern and has multiple restaurants to choose from. It is very close to the airport - about a 5 minute drive.
Enjoyed our stay(s)
We recently stayed here two nights prior to and immediately after a Galapagos cruise. The first two nights we stayed in a suite on the executive floor with a balcony. The room was extremely nice - large and well appointed. There were two separate full bathrooms and the one off the living area was very nice while the bedroom one was extremely nice. The bed was comfortable. Only problem was the furniture in the living are looked nice but was extremely uncomfortable. The return stay we stayed in a junior suite. We missed the second bath and extra space but it was still very nice and the furniture was also more comfortable. Staying on the executive floor was a great deal. We took advantage of the breakfast which was varied and good as well as the happy hour. We spent a good deal of time at the pool, too. The bar/meal service was very good as was the food. We cannot recommend the steak restaurant highly enough. Prices were great (compared to American prices) and the food and service was excellent. We also took advantage of the airport shuttle when we arrived and left each time. It was very convenient. We highly recommend everything about this hotel.
