The beauty of Casa de Sezim is not only in its harmonious lines or the impressive XVIII century façade of its majestic entrance, as within its walls hang early XIX century panoramic wallpapers, scenes from both of the new and old world, of sufficient rarity to have become a motive of international curiosity in recent years. This manor house includes 6 rooms and 2 suites, dining room and a bar, lounge, TV room, games room with billiards, library, meeting room, as well as a chapel, an outdoor swimming pool and a tennis court. Likewise, the house features, in the back and along the gardens, an o...

Delightful two night stay

Reviewed 8 september, 2021

We stayed at Casa de Sezim for two nights with two of our children aged 18 and 22. The house is amazing, faded grandeur but decorated like a photoshoot ,and the staff were attentive and friendly when needed, but just left us to enjoy and relax while we were there. We felt very much at home. Fantastic breakfast, lovely pool but the highlight was probably the Casa dog who stayed with us for the duration of our stay...I don't think I've ever met such a smart dog!

A bit beyond 4 stars rating

The estate is very beautiful, with red walls around it. It has very big rooms with elegant decorations and there are also few common areas pleasant to spend time in. The wall tapestry is one of the special things. A terrace offers a view towards gardens, beautiful to admire and relax. The check-in and check out were effective. The breakfast was only one type of cheese and ham, so nothing special, but then overall ok enough as there is yoghurt, milk, eggs, bacon and sweets. Tea and kettle in the room, very appreciated. We did not try the wines, but they won many awards, so probably they are good. The owner was nice, in a formal approach, but quite clear and helpful. None of these things are truly significant, to be fair, but they had small impact and there was also no clear differentiator. This is located slightly outside the city, 10 minutes by car in an area which is not attractive for walking. The room was just a bit cold on October, but we came from previous hotel where the heaters were burning for us. I would have liked to get more info , then I looked it up on the Internet and there is a nice story about it).

Amazing place!

This is a must visit spot! Guimaraes is a world heritage site small city in northern Portugal. We picked this winery hotel for the ambience but had no idea it would be as cool as it was. We were blown away. It has been in the same family since the 14th century and the owner was the 32nd generation to run the place. The owner and office manager spoke great English. We got in a travel jam when we arrived in town with res to pick up a rental car and rental agency had already closed. We thought we were going to have to cancel our stay, but instead the office manager gave us alternative options to get there and even drove us to rental place the next morn. She was AMAZING and saved our trip. Also the breakfast (included) was outstanding and the grounds, amenities, huge wood burning fireplace, pool etc were exceptional. If you like historic buildings, great service and wonderful people, you will love this place

a different and pleasant stay

Reviewed 23 october, 2018

This centuries old manor house is a different and very pleasant stay from your average hotel. It is very rustic and homey and makes you feel part of the past hundreds of years ago. The owner is exceptionally friendly and helpful. And the wine from their own vineyard is excellent.

Peace & Tranquility

This wonderful wee pad set in an aristocratic estate is a gem of a place which many would find perfect for a quiet break. The staff, food & surroundings are excellent. Comfortable rooms, tastefully furnished with many of the public rooms adorned with objets d'art. The vine form the vineyard, also on site, is good if white is your preference. Good WifFi throughout the premises too.
