Stayed a few nights
We stayed here a few nights recently while some work was being done on the house. It has a big beer garden with plenty of space. Alright place if you like student bars but not really my cup of tea....
Pub with rooms
No dining or residents area. Eat in the bar, unless it's full of students, then you won't get a table. Black mould in shower. First mentioned 3 years ago. Staff were friendly, not sure what the cleaner did! but the whole place needs a thorough clean from top to bottom. Covid wipe down in the bar, no sign of it anywhere else. I think it was the landlord, didn't speak when I booked in, and not too keen on wearing a mask in the bar area. Stayed in lots of hotels over the last 10yrs, round the world, this was the dirtiest
Owners should probably just give up now...
Tired, smelly, creaky, STICKY. Cant make its mind up wether it wants to be a student bar for all the smelly's that drink there or a b&b. It doesnt work as both. Was probably a nice place once but now left to rot just like the majority of its furnishings and window frames. Price doesnt reflect condition/services offered. Would not reconmend sorry.
Wouldn’t pay £20 to visit
Absolutely disgusting. We wanted to come to wales as we love hiking. Due to the virus we were not able to go abroad and due to being pregnant we thought let’s go away with the dog for our last time together before the baby. This hotel experience has completely ruined our time. We paid £85 for a bathroom that is falling to pieces, has not hot water, staff are unfriendly and extremely grumpy not welcoming at all. The food didn’t taste brilliant and didn’t have what was advertised when booking. I understand this is a dog friendly hotel so I wouldn’t expect much but even to this standard I would never want to bring my dog again. It’s very noisy until about 2am so we have struggled to get much sleep. We looked at other hotels but due to it being late evening we couldn’t get in anyway and even contemplated staying in our car. We will not be visiting this hotel again. Very disappointment.
Lovely staff, bad everything else!
My mother and I stayed here as it was the only dog-friendly hotel in Bangor, and naturally, dog friendly hotels tend not to be the best, but this was really a let down. The hotel looks abandoned from the outside; bad paintwork, trash and cigarette butts everywhere outside, overgrown weeds etc. Inside; much the same just without the litter; mould, peeling paint, dust and grime. The room was not great; the beds creaked so much, the shower was zip-tied to the wall and didn’t get hot at ALL, I had to run a bath and also use the kettle to warm the water! I really would not recommend this hotel; the only redeeming feature were the lovely staff; especially the cleaning lady who was so helpful and kind.
