Average hotel, a bit too pricey for what it is. Room was basic and double bed was actually two twin beds zipped together. Breakfast is cooked and was disappointing. No other option. No cereal, fruit, pastries or selection of teas. Poached eggs were undercooked and the breakfast area was rammed on the second morning. No social distancing, we had a table of 4 put less than a m from us and we were right next to the queue for the tea and coffee (help yourself, no sanitiser). We had an evening meal in the pub - food was really nice!
Two days in Wales
Been here a few times, cannot fault it. Good rooms, good food and good beer, what more can you ask for. Don't be a pig the big breakfast is too big. The service is always good and we see the same faces each time we go.
Five Star accommodation for Three Star Prices - 3 Nights for £198.
Well, what can I say What a lovely find?!. Everything about Ty Dre is exceptional. My room was very large and very spacious - I even had a lot of room to exercise in the mornings. My double bed was large and extremely comfortable. As for the kitchenette, it was fully functional. The bath was the bathroom was very large and had a separate shower. My room had a 42 inch mounted flat screen smart TV. Welcome pack wise, the selection of teas and coffee were more than adequate and it came with luxury biscuits. In the mornings the breakfast was a buffet that had more than plenty of choices - including fresh fruit. The staff at reception, at the Black Boy restaurant and at the breakfast are very helpful, friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend Ty Dre Town House. I loved it here so much that I will probably return here for when I do a course in May. My only problem was the accommodation does not compost for waste etc.
We decided to have a couple of nights away, and booked the Ty Dre guest house. You have to check in at the black boy pub, less than 5 minutes walk and the car park is free, but at the harbour, 5-10 minute walk depending on speed. Our room was 74, on the 1st floor. Lovely, clean and spacious it even has a kitchen. Bed was massive and comfy, the bathroom and shower were very good. The cleaner was polite and did a great job. Breakfast was served in the black boy, and once again the staff were a credit to the pub. The food was very good, from a full English to cereal, fruit or pastries. Caernarfon is a lovely place to visit, and we would recommend staying here.
North Wales break
Didn’t realize at point of booking that Ty Dre Town House was associated with the Black Boy Inn in Caernarfon , what a bonus. It is a separate House around a 30 second walk from the Inn , which is where you go for breakfast and optional pub drinks and lunch / evening meals - and both are well worth participating in. Check in is at the Inn where one of the team even came out to direct us to the car park and offered to carry our bags into the Inn (given we were early). Both the bedroom and the bathroom were huge , comfortable and contained everything one could need , there was even an umbrella at the Town House door to use for the 30 second walk to the Inn. At the Inn , very friendly staff serving a wide variety and good value food and drink. Great base for visiting North West Wales and we really enjoyed the castle and a day touring Anglesey. Car parking is provided in a car park around a 2 minute walk away , one quick tip though is that we were unable to get in at 4.45pm as entry was closed although there was plenty of other free parking around the Town which we could use until being able to move it to our deigned car park the following morning.
