Rustic but needs upgrades
Opinión escrita el 23 de Decembre de 2019
The Callaway Gardens area has never been known for outstanding accommodations. Most of the amenities have always reminded me of old fashioned roadside motels. This inn is part of the Callaway corporation so my room fee also included entrance into the Fantasy of Lights. The lobby/entrance center is very nice. The rooms are very reminiscent of older hotels in the Smokey Mts. They are currently undergoing renovations, but the rooms are still very clean. The one issue we had was the location of the elevator. It was at the end of the complex which can cause issues for those who are physically challenged in walking to a far room.
Mountain Creek Inn at Callaway Gardens

$170 + Fees =$210.30 a night, Rooms smelled of mildew, door key constant problem, shower hot water pressure inadequate. Rooms being renovated and because the bed was comfortable, I would guess my room was one of them
A good day trip from Atlanta

We booked a one-night stay the Mountain Creek Inn part of an overnight trip from Atlanta. From other reviews on the Callaway Gardens listing, it's clear that there is often confusion about which hotel/motel guests are booking into, but we chose the Mountain Creek Inn as the budget option. It's definitely an older building, but it does have some vintage charge and is almost directly across from the Callaway Gardens entrance.
The room itself was clean and had some updates (carpet looked pretty new) and some older features (lack of sockets, phone with missing buttons). If breakfast was available, we didn't receive any info about it or see it from the lobby when we check out at 8am. There was coffee in the lobby in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. We did not eat at the restaurant off the lobby since we were eating at another restaurant on-property. The wifi was great, with a strong clear signal.
One concerning thing: we had a second floor exterior room on the end of the building (room 275) with difficult access. You have to first cross through a passage into the interior/courtyard area, head down a few rooms, go up a narrow set of stairs, swing back a few rooms and back through the passage to the outside. We were then about 10 rooms down the way (see photo). If there had been an emergency and the rooms were full, it would have taken a very long time to evacuate. I would suggest some sort of emergency fire escape at the end of the building (I'm putting this in because it was a big concern for my elderly mother).
Enjoyable Weekend at The Mountain Creek Inn

Our family booked four rooms. the rooms were clean and sufficient. We only needed a place to sleep and shower. The adjacent restaurant had good food. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard with a bonfire. The shuttle took us to the trolley to go through the lights which were very nice. We had fun on the zipline, ate at the Discovery Center café, fed fish from the bridge, loved the butterfly building. The Inn is an older building and motel style, get rooms facing the courtyard. we had 252,254,256,258. Suggestions for improvement: tweak the showerheads so water comes out fully and be more informative about breakfast being an extra $15/each. Will definitely go again. It was a lovely weekend. it's pricey; however, all the events at Callaway including entrance fees are included.
Mountain Creek Inn

The staff at Mountain Creek Inn was very helpful, hard-working, and personable. My husband, granddaughter, and I spent Saturday night at the Inn so we could experience the Fantasy in Lights and not have to drive back to Atlanta. Although the inn was clean and neat, the rooms could use some upgrades. We also purchased tickets for the buffet dinner and the play about the Grinch. Although the play was entertaining for young children, there is definitely room for improvement. The food was mediocre and for the cost of the dinner, I would think that healthier and tastier food choices could be provided. We did like the carolers who entertained guests at the inn. Our granddaughter really enjoyed playing the bells for the group as they sang the classic Jingle Bells. With some minor changes, this experience could become outstanding.
