Majestic property makes up for lacking amenities
If you are planning to stay here, know where you are going, and why. You are trying to escape touristy areas, as well as find your place at “the end of the world.” I feel our two night stay was very successful for this! Our room was one of the basic King Garden Rooms. Room #49. Room was plenty large, bathroom large, the art was amazingly original and appropriate for the location. The room has some really nice touches, like the closet lights coming on when you opened the closet door. Also, a large pedwstal fan, as the room is without HVAC. Wish: That the ceiling fans would have had a higher setting. The nighttime temps were an issue for us, as our room was next to the road that divides the property. Therefore, a wall and trees blocked the ocean breeze into our window that was facing that direction. This property is laid out over 60 some acres. Most hotels go vertical, not horizontal. If you want beauty, this is a great place. If you want to be 20 steps from your ice machine, look elsewhere. Everywhere you looked, there was beauty. The 3 hole golf course. The walk up to the cross. The walk to your room. Majestic. The walk to the infinity pool. The walk to the other pool. The walk to the exercise room. I am using the word walk a lot. The walk to the ocean . . . magnificent. If you want great food and many options. Go elsewhere. Hana is not for foodies. Nightlife, non existent. We walked to the food trucks. No parking there, and might damage your rental vehicle if it sits low to the ground. Doubt we will return, as this was our second trip to Maui. But would highly recommend this location if you are heading to Hana. Note: We paid for our two night stay with 60,000 Hyatt points. A resort fee was not charged to our folio.
Gorgeous property with the kindest staff
This hotel is absolutely beautiful and the grounds are so amazing. The pool overlooking the ocean, the palm trees, tropical plants feels like a true oasis and very relaxing. It was such a nice break after the crowds in Kaanapali. As soon as we arrived, Bobby welcomed us with fruit juice and leis, which was so wonderful after the long hectic drive up. He let us all ride in the shuttle to our room and was our friendly guide giving us a great overview of the property. Beautiful tennis courts, pools, and lush greenery. The place is stunningly breathtaking. Tenia, in housekeeping was also very accommodating and brought us extra towels and blankets, and when she saw that my toddler had a fall, she rushed to bring us a big bag of ice which was so sweet of her! We chatted with Kapiolani also in housekeeping and she was so warm and friendly, we felt right at home. The smiles and helpful attitudes from this great staff, and them going above and beyond to create such a magical experience made this the best resort we have ever stayed in, hands down. This place is a must!
Grounds and views compensate for lack of service and dated facilities
The grounds and unique location make the stay a must. The ocean bungalow was breathtaking, with lovely deck furniture for day and night enjoyment. The facilities are old and need renovation, but bed and furniture in the room are comfortable. The staff were less than service-minded… leaving room for improvement.
Nice views with rats
Nice hotel with many amenities and great views. We thought it was a good hotel till there were rats in our room at night and we got no sleep and our food was ruined. Upon check out hotel did nothing to remedy our frustrations.
Hana Maui Resort
The location is one in a million and the way the ocean front units are arranged are absolutely beautiful. I would love to return. That being said I think they need to up their game in basic room features, no glasses or coffee mugs mugs, only very flimsy paper cups, no wine or bottle opener and a mini-fridge from a motel six. Also chipping paint and a broken light fixture in the bathroom. Make no mistake, I would love to return, just a little taken aback at the details when paying over 500 a night.
