Bed bug infestation, STAY FAR FAR AWAY! You will get bites all over body and have to throw out your belongings. They did treatments and bed bugs did not die. Place is infested. Rooms are small, grim and prison like. White brick walls, dirty carpet, prisoner bed, old furniture. Kitchen is small and dirty,

Not even worth the £40

I stayed here with my cousin after a gig at Alexandra palace after looking for somewhere for a nearby nights sleep. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly man who showed us to our rooms. Having lived in student halls myself in London, I expected basic cleanliness and a squeaky mattress. But the rooms weren't very clean and I only managed 2 hours sleep on the camp bed. As the rooms are also offered as a 'hotel' we also expected a towel so we could shower. This wasn't provided, which I'm sort of glad about having seen the state of the unisex shared bathrooms. We left as soon as we woke up at 8am, there wasn't anybody in reception so we just had to leave our keys on the desk and hope for the best! Definitely wouldn't stay again.

Cons and pros

Reviewed 2 october, 2014

CONS It can get fairly loud here. There has been more than one time where someone was playing their music rather loudly, for days in a row and one person playing their music incredibly loudly as early as 6-7am. I'm assuming it's their alarm? But wakes everyone else up. That happens on a fairly regular basis. Typically the noise dies down around 1230-1am. It's expected in a student hall I guess. The only real annoyance is the one person continuously playing their music at god awful levels at night and in the mornings. PROS It really is a great location. The tube is literally under five minutes away. Shops are within the same walking distance. You can get to central London in under 20 minutes. Which is great. The rooms are a fair size, rather basic but they do the trick. The key fob access into the rooms/building/complex is great. At night they close the carpark door and you can only get in with your fob key. Kitchen area is sometimes not the cleanest but that's more to do with the student side of living here than the cleaners. Staff have generally been pretty helpful and accommodating. Laundry is right on site, which is great and they have about 3-4 washers and dryers for you to use. It is a great place to stay. The biggest annoyance and the deal breaker for me is the noise. Hard to study or get some sleep when theres music being played every night of the week.

Very comfortable and conveniently placed

Reviewed 29 september, 2014

I am currently staying here whilst at university, and I think it is a comfortable place to stay with friendly people and a very good location. It is less than a minute walk to the tube station, less than a minute walk to the shopping centre, is only a five minute walk from my uni, and is next door to a morrisons. The rooms are small and basic in what you get, a single bed, a wardrobe, a desk, a bedside cabinet and a small storage unit, however what I wasn't expecting was that all of it is brand new, from the desk and wardrobe to the mattress and carpet. The communal area is very large and comfortable, the sofas are very worn and some have rips in the leather but this doesn't compromise the comfort of them. There is also a free to use pool table and table tennis table, as well as a huge tv and (overpriced) vending machine. The kitchens and showers and toilets are cleaned daily (mon-fri) by the staff and include fridges, oven, microwave, kettle, sink, and a table and chairs. Every resident also gets a cupboard in the kitchen that is locked with your key. Their is a laundry room with 3 washers and 3 dryers, these cost £2 and £1 respectively. Bed linen is included, as well as a lamp. Building is very secure, you have a locked room in a locked building that is only accessible through a locked car park, you can access these at any time with your key and their is also a 24 hour security guard service by the front door. Can get a bit noisy but generally is quiet after 10pm-ish, I have only ever had one problem with not being able to sleep due to loud music, but this was during freshers and only went on for around ten mins or so. And by the sounds of the singing those involved were very drunk. As for the mention of police sirens in a previous review it is true that I have been able to spend a day here without hearing the sirens of both police and ambulances, however they are always just passing and never stop on the local are (that I have seen anyway.)

Despite of the many bad things told by other people, I stayed VERY WELL in this hostel, maybe just because I love staying in a "busy" place, with many other young people and students. The toilets weren't well maintained and the kitchen wasn't so much provided, but I didn't care!! The internet connection was great, the personnel nice and sociable (I've almost got friend of Manuchar, the boy at the reception), great lounge space with billard and table tennis, GREAT position with a big supermarket (Morrison's) at few seconds walk, the tube station at less than 2 minutes by walk (Picadilly line, so just 15 minutes to arrive to the centre of London), even a library, cinemas (where I went: I both watched a film at the cinema and borrowed books at the library) and practically whatever else... GREAT, GREAT PITY that the price is too much, but just because it's an hostel, and MAINLY because from this september it will be ONLY for students, so all the other people wil be able to stay there only in the summer....
