Nope. Never again.
This hotel is not worth the money. The bed was comfortable and that’s about the only positive. The bathroom was filthy and gross. It had very short ceilings, and they were covered in OTHER PEOPLE’S HAIR. The door to the bathroom was a barn door with a full length privacy glass window. Anytime one of us used the bathroom at night, it lit up the entire bedroom. This door was also covered in dust, filth, and OTHER PEOPLE’S HAIR. There was one small towel hook available and it was above the toilet. The one towel we were able to hang to dry did fall in said toilet. A room for 4 people should come with 4 towels and space to hang them to dry. When we had to request more towels the next day, it took over an hour and an additional call to the front desk to get them. The windows were covered in filth and bugs. I realize it’s a high rise, but it was not a good feeling to not be able to see well out of the windows. HUGE spiders and webs were covering everything. At one point we had 5 spiders larger than a quarter crawling over them. We were in Harrisburg for a lacrosse tournament with our two children. After a full day in 90+ degree weather, we were hot and exhausted. We just wanted showers and room service. There were also severe thunderstorms, so we didn’t want to get out. We attempted from 8-10pm to order room service. No one would answer the phone. We contacted the front desk several times and they would only transfer us to a line that continually hung up on us. We eventually went to sleep hungry. Parking in the garage is not easy or convenient. We will not be staying at this hotel ever again.
Excellent stay at the Harrisburg Hilton downtown hotel
The downtown Harrisburg Hilton is a great hotel, with a very nice and well located facility, a very helpful and friendly Staff, clean and spacious rooms, and, of course, the famous “Hilton beds”, which are well known in the travel industry as the best and most comfortable beds around! A great experience!
Decent location, some cleaning challenges
Location is easy to reach and one block away from the river and Greenbelt Trail. Close to many dining options. Downside was a room that was not all that clean in normal times, but definitely not during Covid. Hairs in the bathroom floor and sticky floor. Definitely a shock.
Save your money, and go somewhere else!
To start things off, parking was terrible. Trying to find the entrance to the hotel from the parking garage was a nightmare. Once we got to our room it was NOT clean. There was stuff all over the floors showing that they definitely didn’t take time to vacuum. The bathroom mirror had toothpaste spit on it, hair left on the counter, and no trash bag in the trash can. The mirror in the hall looked as thought it had never been cleaned, and the vanity and tv were dirty with crumbs left on the counter tops. The beds were made, but in a very messy way. The chair in the room had a white stain on it, with the glass table next to it also being dirty with crumbs. The air conditioner kept kicking off; despite being set to 63 degree, it remained 73, so the room was hot for most of the night. I wanted to try to get our money back and leave immediately, but we arrived late after a long day of driving and my husband just wanted to sleep to prepare for the 14 hour drive the next morning. I will say the bed was comfy and the sheets didn’t look dirty. We stayed on the 5th floor; someone did wake us up in the middle of the night being loud in the hallway, but that was the only noise complaint we had (which really is expected and not a big deal). We also noticed all the electrical sockets and light switches were old and a dingy yellow color, again not a big deal but an easy fix to modernize the room. I’ve stayed at many Hilton’s; it is usually our hotel line of choice because of the cleanliness and modern feel, but Hilton should consider making BIG changes to this hotel or selling it because it is not up to their standards in the slightest.
Excellent property
Great location with excellent restaurants close by. Hotel restaurant serves wonderful food and has great bar with nice wine list! Great service and very nice rooms with very comfortable bedding and mattress.
