We traveled down from Harrisburg PA to watch the Montana Griz play JMU. I’m a Marriott rewards member so I favor Marriott. I’ve stayed in a lot of Marriott properties, and I favor Residence Inn. This hotel is ok. The couch seemed a little worn. Plus it drives me crazy when there are no USB ports in a room. They could get a lamp or clock with USB ports. This hotel needs to reboot and update!

We had a much better experience than when we stayed here in January. Our check-in went smoothly, there were plenty of luggage carts in the entryway, and our room was ready for us when we arrived. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. I was particularly happy with the fact that there were sufficient kitchen supplies for us to make our dinner. The bed and linens were comfortable, we heard no traffic noise, and the shower water pressure was outstanding. Breakfast in the morning was good with pre-made biscuit sandwiches, fruits, eggs and more. All staff we encountered were personable and helpful. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 is the A/C being off overnight. I’m normally cold but even I was uncomfortable with how warm the room became before the A/C kicked back on around 4 am. This is the second Residence Inn we've stayed at within a month that stopped A/C overnight. I certainly hope it’s an anomaly rather than intentional. If people are primarily at the property for a good night’s sleep, why do something that will ruin it?

Been staying a few times a year at this property and always very pleased with staff and service plus a wonderful location. The breakfast is excellent under the leadership of Bob who does a fantastic job in attending to their loyal guest. However, this property is using covid as an excuse for not offering there evening socials. It has been almost 2 years and while Marriott keeps on advertising the evening mix as a incentive for staying with them most of there properties have been using covid as an excuse to add to the bottom line. I personally have been very loyal to Marriott as a platinum member but this year have joined Drury Inn program and have switched in cities that offer that choice and have been very pleased with the amenities offered including a wonderful breakfast plus an evening social every evening.
Nice hotel, but could use some updating.

The furnishings (sofa, etc.), although probably clean, had a well used, slightly dirty look to them. They were obviously very well used and need some updating. There were two queen size beds in the room. One was very lumpy and quite uncomfortable. The other one was much better. The kitchen was well equipped. We did have to unload the dishwasher, but that was due to the fact that the housekeeping staff places all dishes, etc. in the dishwasher to ensure that they are truly clean for the next guests to occupy the room. Unloading them was not really an inconvenience. Anyone with small children should be careful of scalding due to the temperature of the water from the hot water faucets. We found it to be 130 degrees, which could be an issue for unsupervised children. The breakfast was very good with a nice selection. All hotel staff that we encountered were very pleasant and friendly. The hotel location is excellent and centrally located for visiting Harrisonburg and the local area. We used it as our base for visiting a number of the caverns in the area as well as the Safari Park at Natural Bridge.
Past its prime, would not return

Detail: Ten year old property never updated, resting on its laurels. Cons: • Mattress was lumpy, worn and likely original to room • Mildew around tub • No vent fan in bathroom • Dirty, old CFL bulbs in bedside lamps. • Old, greasy dirty carpet • Neither hand towels nor cups in bathroom • No extra blanket. When requested, staff delivered a second quilted bed cover. Most hotels provide a light blanket, usually found in the closet. • Dishwasher full of dishes, not emptied • Ice machines on all floors out of order Pro’s • Excellent black out curtains • No road noise • Terrific strong shower About me: SPG Lifetime Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Silver, over 2 million miles traveled.
