Everything You Need For the Perfect Stay in Colmar!
Au Grenier à Sel, contains a number of apartments for rent in the historical center of Colmar. The room we chose, Saharienne, was on the 4th floor with full balcony, and was exactly as portrayed on the website. There is a code to get into the building from outside, and a lock-box at the residence door. The apartment is large and there is on street parking available. It was very clean. The manager, Chantal, was quick to respond and sent detailed instructions regarding entry, garbage separation, and check-out. The interior entryway, had two doors for added privacy as well as a doorbell. The inside entry area had a mirror, chair and small table. The inside entry door is locked inside and out by the apartment key. (this also makes it easier not to forget the key). The toilet with sink is located just inside the door, in the interior entry area. The Bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed with a puffy duvet. There is a dresser, armoire and clothing rack, in the adjoining seating area, which also has a table and flat screen TV. The bathroom, just off the bedroom, has both a rain shower and hand shower, double sinks, heated towel rack, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. There was a separate toilet with sink in the entry area (as stated above). The Kitchen was complete with table and 4 chairs, oven, cook top, venting hood, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot (with pods), kettle, toaster, infusion pot, utensils, pots/pans, casseroles, dishes, glasses/cups, bottle opener, can opener, etc. All as described on the website. The Balcony ran the length of the apartment, had a table with 2 chairs, and overlooked some impressive rooftops and the street below. There are blackout drapes in the bedroom/balcony which helped reduce noise from outside. There are 2 doors and 2 windows leading to the balcony area. We were lucky enough to have very mild weather in January, making it possible for us to enjoy our coffee in the morning and wine in the evening, out on the balcony. The building is located within walking distance of all the sites in the historic center and Petite Venice areas. It is steps away from the Covered Market and two smaller supermarkets. There are many Restaurants/Bistro/Cafes, Pâtisserie, Boulangerie, Wine Stores, and misc. shopping just steps from the door; as well as Museums and Vineyards (of which we visited two - within walking distance of the residence). We chose to walk from the train station to the apartment, which took approximately 20 minutes with our bags. Taxi and Bus services are also available. Parking is located next to the building if you have a car and can be arranged with Chantal. We did not use this service. When we first arrived at the rental, there was a bottle of Cremant and two souvenir pens waiting for us. Contact with Chantal went smoothly using WhatsApp. Her instructions were precise and easy to understand. Any questions were address very quickly. I would absolutely recommend this residence and location. The village of Colmar is a wonderful city for anyone... friends, couples, and families. The combination of the French, German and Swiss cultures, makes Colmar (as well as the rest of the Alsace Region) very interesting in both architecture and cuisine. The local people are friendly and helpful.
Luxury stay in the center of Colmar
We stayed at Au Grenier à Sel for our short honeymoon and we absolutely loved it! The instructions from Chantal were very clear, as was her communication before and during our stay. The apartment is luxurious, with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. As the apartment is located directly in the center of Colmar, going our for sightseeing and/or dinner is very easy. We hope to come back some time!
Roomy and comfortable apartment in the Heart of Colmar
The apartment we stayed in was perfect; it felt clean, updated and large. There is a large bathroom, a nice shower and a kitchen with everything needed if you want to cook while you are there. There is washing machine for laundry, no dryer. From the moment I booked the apartment with Chantal it was a great process. Chantal was easy to reach and responded quickly each time I had a question. Just before our arrival I received an email from Chantal explaining exactly how to get to the apartments and instructions for getting in, they were clear and concise. The location of the apartment is right in the center of where you want to be and the entire village is an easy walk away. There is a market and pharmacy right across the street and numerous bistros all around. The walk to “Little Venice” is very close and there are numerous cafes to eat or just enjoy a nice glass of wine or coffee. The Village of Colmar itself it really beautiful, it feels very vintage/ old fashioned yet like a mini city with a lot to do and see. We did not have a problem finding people to speak English which made it easy to communicate. Because the apartment is in the heart of everything there is a lot of action right near the apartment but with the windows closed you cannot hear anything outside and other than a Saturday night, even with the windows opened you aren’t too disturbed. Chantal offers a lot of necessary information in the apartment itself ie: wifi passwords, car service, tours and taxi service on your way out of town. I will say that the taxi was double the cost getting back to the train station vs. coming from the train station but I feel that was for the convenience of having them picking you up right outside the apartment at a designated pick up time, and well worth it! The day of our departure, Chantal was there to greet us and make sure we were all set with our transportation and that we were happy with our stay. It was truly a pleasure to deal with her and to stay at this wonderfully comfortable apartment. Merci’ Chantal!
Great appartment in the center of colmar
Very nice appartment near Little Venice , well equiped kitchen , spacious bedroom and bathroom , close to all attractions and restaurants , we had the appartment Romantique on the first floor (no elevator)
Very nice studio
The apartment is newly renovated. It is spacious, comfortable, very clean and in the center of Colmar. If you do not have a problem to climb 50 stairs with your luggage, take it. The communication with the ownner was very good.
