STOP DROWNING THE GIN. Please

Reviewed 8 november, 2021

Last week I asked for a gin & tonic, but forgot to ask the barman not to pour the entire contents of the bottle of tonic into the gin. As He started to pour I asked him to stop, too late a full bottle of Fevertree emptied into a single gin. I said you can’t taste the. His reply - it’s what we’ve always done. The customer should be able to choose how much tonic to add. What’s the point of a single gin 25ml diluted with 200ml of tonic. It’s about the gin not the tonic. Fevertree recommend 1 part gin to 3 parts tonic 25ml/75ml. You might as well just buy the tonic if they’re going to do this and save £4.

Best pie ever

Reviewed 26 october, 2021

Called in for a lunch time meal with friends. Gammon and pie a clear favourite. The pie was fantastic. One of the best pub pies I have ever had. Chips , fresh vegetables and gravy. There was a glaze on the pie was was incredible, it had a glaze on that had a unique taste that I cannot pin point. Would love to know unless it’s a secret gem. Highly recommend the Pie. Went nicely with the Asphalls .

Surprisingly good

Reviewed 25 october, 2021

Visited hoping to get a bite to eat after a long day. Very busy and the young staff member who greeted us needed a bit of prompting that actually tables were available despite her saying she “didn’t think so”. The manager was very pleasant indeed and invited us to sit down. The food was excellent - genuinely the best meal I have eaten in a very long time. Would absolutely recommend.

A VERY GOOD MEAL

Reviewed 20 october, 2021

Excellent dinner, slightly disappointed that the crab melting pots were not available, must have been a rush on to sell out by 7.30pm. Apart from that, really could not fault the food or the service. Generous portions and really quite reasonable prices, and the service was first class. Would definitely visit again.
