Excellent Hotel, Dodgy Area
Hotel itself is great esp for the price ($89-109 per night if you stay 7 nights). Staff is very helpful except sometimes the overnight person can be rude over the phone (I don't expect people to be super bubbly but they tended to be short. One time I called asking about my charges and I actively try to be polite and never use an accusatory tone with service workers but they were rude, presumptuous and at one point said the words to me, "that's how hotels work". Every other staff interaction was great! The rooms are clean but stuffy(decor not humidity) and a little dated. Housekeeping does an excellent job keeping the entire building very tidy. The courtyard and balcony are lovely(smoking is allowed). They are also very prompt when you request toiletries. Pool towels would frequently be gone so you should bring down your own just in case. There is laundry available on site($3 per use, per machine $6 total for complete load) but I'm unsure about detergent ( I picked up mine at the 99 cent store 4 mins away.) The shuttle to Manhattan Beach is very helpful. It is available at 12p, 2p, 4p, 6p with a 2 person minimum. Another staff issue was discrepancy of information. When I called the hotel prior to my stay I asked the front desk person if I would be able to take the shuttle back from the beach to the hotel and they said no, you could only be dropped off. However, the first time I took the shuttle to Manhattan Beach the driver asked me what time my pickup was. Every time I took the shuttle I was able to take it back to the hotel. It's a very. very busy area for traffic but nearby 24 hr gas station and fast food could be helpful. There was other takeout options, a liquor store, nail shop, starbucks, etc. that were helpful. The area isn't very comfortable for people to walk around though, you'll likely get honked at or even followed.
Piece of Italy in California
I love love this hotel , what a beautiful architecture I felt like I somewhere in Italy .I couldn't stop myself from taking pictures Loved the art collection as well .The staff is nice and professional .Has a laundry room if you need your clothes refreshed. There is a mexican restaurant at the fist floor where I enjoyed a lovely cocktail. Manhattan beach is about 10 -12min car ride. Lots of stores across the street and near by . I loved it i will stay agin . Coffee in the room needs to be improved .... Loved my stay ! Compliments ! Emi B
Decent
My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights. The first 2 nights were a bit annoying because the family in the room directly above ours had kids that ran around causing noises for us below. The hotel was able to relocate us to another room on the top floor and it was very quiet. The hotel itself was remarkably clean and quiet despite its proximity to the major highway. I'm a light sleeper and had no issues sleeping. The only tiny issue we had was terrible water pressure on floor 4. Prior to our move in the middle of our 4 days there, the water pressure was fine on floor 3. I'd return again, but would want to be on floor 3 with no one above me to ensure no noise. I was very happy that the $15/night parking fee was waived due to covid. That was a nice gesture. The hotel restaurant is open, but we did not eat there.
Great stay!!
Check in was very easy and quick. It was clean and our room was very neat. The front desk was helpful and kind. We were there for a week and they were always quick to help when we had questions. It was a beautiful hotel! Location felt safe, but transportation options weren’t the best. We wished the hot tub would have been a hotter temperature. There was no room service for 8 days, but this could have been due to covid. We did however get towels and any other items we needed from the front desk. It was quite noisy a few nights as we could hear other people at times. The view of the freeway was not the best, but overall the service and kindness of each person made our stay very great. We would recommend to others!
Room service completely absent
We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights, an room service is absent completely, as in no service at all - no trash collection, no towels replaced, no coffee or sugar, no soap, etc. We asked for these supplies on a third day, so a bag with towels and soap was left at our door... Not sure how it could be a 4 star hotel - they are clearly abusing COVID restrictions to reduce services to 0.
