Wanted a simple lunch. Two panini, roasted veg, pesto & mozzarella. Not difficult?
Opinión escrita el 7 de Septiembre de 2021
Roasted veg turned out to be overcooked beetroot, carrots, parsnip and celery. Hardly Mediterranean veg as expected. No sign of pesto either. We had already paid, so just left having struggled to eat half. How anyone thinks a roasted veg panini(Italian) with pesto(Italian) and mozzarella (Italian) should contain root veg( non Italian) those responsible should not be in hospitality/catering.

We went for lunch with 3 others. On ordering food we were told there was a 40 minute wait, which was fine. From that point it got worse. Our order was clearly forgotten about, which in all honestly does happen. But, after waiting a hour, they come to inform us that, they have no ham, why it took so long i have no idea. When the food arrived only three meals came out. It took another 30 minutes for the other meal. The hotel, had no salt, no vinegar, no sauces, if fact they seemed to be sorted on everything. When we asked why did the other meal take so long, we were told the chef had 3rd degree burns......again not sure why we needed to know that. The pub, was run with no manager, every customer was complaining, we talked to several and all confirmed that it was extremely poor service. I recommend the globe
Terrible service at the Kilverts Hotel

We stayed a week in Hay on Wye and called in the Kilverts Hotel earlier in the week for a lunchtime drink. We were seated outside and I went inside to the bar to order our drinks. The barman serving at the time was very polite and served me my drinks at the bar with no issues. After 2pm the staff changed and my wife went in the 2nd time to order the drinks and the barman that had came on shift after 2pm was extremely rude and obviously did not want to be there.
He said that orders were now being taken at the table and he was already in the middle of serving 3 tables, and we should wait at the table for him to take our order. 15 minutes later and there was still no sign of him or any other member of staff?
So we left without a second drink.
Later on in the week against my better judgment we decided to give the place another chance. I went in to order drinks and the same barman said that he was busy serving tables and he would be out to take our drinks order shortly. 10 minutes later and nothing!
It was a Friday night and the place was virtually empty. Probably just how the barman wanted it ,for an easy life!
We left again without any drinks and went to The Three Tuns down the road and was served within seconds of entering the premises and it was really busy.
I visit Hay very regularly and I will never be returning to the Kilverts Hotel again and I would advise anyone to avoid the place.
Go to the 3 Tuns instead where the staff are polite and seem like they actually want to be there....
just a drink.

Came for a walking holiday with my dog and stayed the night. I must say from booking the trip until checking out was such a pleasure!
I spoke to the general manager and I must say she was fabulous, even offered a towel on arrival for Barney which was definitely needed!
Automatically booked in for dinner, I just had to confirm a time when I’d like to have it, was a lovely touch. I had the vegan stew that was on the normal menu, hearty and filling. Tom (chap with the bright hair?) was attentive and friendly.
The room was comfortable, spotless and I wish I could of stayed another night, not only for the comfort but the breakfast served the next day.
All in all as a female travelling on her own, I cannot recommend this place enough. Felt right at home.
